Must- have vaccinations?

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone has been for their medical in Montreal recently and can tell me for sure what vaccines I must have.  I tried searching and found conflicting info.  It seems I will for sure need an MMR booster, my TDap was done 5 years ago so I believe I'm good on that.... Otherwise, what else should I work on getting now?  Should I start my hepatitis A and B vaccines, even though my third one won't be finished by the time I do my medical? Thanks for any help you can provide...I don't even have my NOA 2 yet but I have a dr's appt in a few weeks and I want to make sure I get as much as I can done then.

If you look up one of the doctors in Toronto.....(I can't remember his name, but he's at he St Clair Centre), he has a vaccine checklist on his website that you can take a look at. It has everything you need to know. Depending on when you get your medical done in Montreal, make sure you get your flu shot taken. There's a specific season for it, so if your medical falls outside of that season, then don't get it. Note: make sure you bring everything you receive from the medical with you to the USA when you move. A part of the I-485 application (green card), you have to get a form completed and signed by a civil surgeon. There's tons of posts on here detailing the best civil surgeons to go to in your area. They need all the details of your medical, including your vaccinations. You don't have to worry about the civil surgeon until after you get married and apply for your green card. So like i said, take a look at that vaccine checklist that I told you about. Once you do that, you'll be golden.

Thank you so much!!! According to that I only need TDap, MMR and flu shot (but I won't be there in flu season) and I've already had the chicken pox as a child that my dr will include in my immunization record.  I did have hep B vaccine as a child, I just thought I might need it again for this, but I guess not.  I will keep that in mind as well for the AOS, I'm trying to be the best prepared as possible.

That info is right and wrong. If you do your vaccinations before or at your medical, then you should get a filled out form DS-3025. If your DS-3025 is marked as completed you do NOT need to spend your money on a civil surgeon in the US. In a normal case for a K-1, you either send off a copy of the completed DS-3025 -OR- a I-693 from a civil surgeon.

Just make sure you get a copy of the DS-3025, don't be afraid to ask for a copy. There will be one in your yellow folder that you give to the CBP at POE and if you ask for a copy, you can keep that and send the copy off in your AOS packet. This will save you money as you AOS since you won't need to make an unnecessary doctors appointment.

Again though, you will need all of your vaccinations up to date to be marked as a completed DS-3025, if it's marked as incomplete or you choose to get the vaccinations here in the US, you will have to pay and use a civil surgeon for a I-693 file.

Just as a "why do I think this" note: My husband got a booster he didn't have at his medical, received a copy of his completed DS-3025, and we sent a front and back copy of the DS-3025 with his AOS packet with no issues or RFE's. We never had to pay for a civil surgeon since we had all the right papers to begin with.

Thank you for your response, especially if its going to save me money!   Would I ask for a copy of the DS-3025 at my medical?  And do you know if your husband had just the vaccinations I listed above, or if he got extra? I may start the Hep A and B vaccinations anyways since I'll be moving to Texas and since it's so close to Mexico I could see us vacationing there at some point.

You're welcome, and yes ask for a copy at the medical! They make one anyways because it goes in your brown envelope for POE. And yes he had everything listed except for a TDap booster, so they just gave it to him and marked him as complete. You also have the option of setting an appointment with your family doctor and getting all needed vaccinations done ahead of time and then taking that completed list to the medical.

If you're going to get any extra vaccinations than the required, you will want to get them from your family doctor if you have time.

I gave that info because after submitting my I-485 in December, I received a letter from USCIS sayig that I needed the I-693 completed by a civil surgeon. I sent in my DS-3025 and expected no problems, but clearly not. I would suggest making it simple for yourself and just go to the civil surgeon to have the vaccines signed off on. I payed $80 for my civil surgeon and only needed to get my flu shot taken.

Makes sense. It's not uncommon for USCIS to overlook paperwork, the same as if they don't see marriage certificates in the packet. But personally I'd wait to see if I get an RFE (for something I shouldn't get an RFE for) then spend the money.
