Actually there is evidence that the Russians hacked the DNC. Those hacks were then strategically leaked during the campaign.

 

Donald Trump didn't simply acknowledge that the Russians hacked the DNC, he applauded and encouraged them.

 

Of course as word began to get out about his ties to Russia he flat out contradicted himself. Since on this and so many other issues Trump takes one position or stance, then later a polar opposite position or stance which can only mean he was wrong or dishonest at one point or the other, people who find Breitbart credible seem to find Trump also credible.

 

McCarthyism was brought up by Trump, emitting one of many Tweets regarding his regurgitated Breitbart hacking claim. Comey was more than clear, nothing to the claim.

 

Reasonable people, myself among them, can agree Russia interfered with our election process. Ditto that there is a pretty massive web of ties between Donald Trump, many of his subordinate's, that may or may not mean anything regarding Russian influence during the election. The lies and dissembling from Trump and his people might be keeping this issue alive.

 

Regardless Trump is tanking as far as his popularity goes. In a word, at best Donald Trump sucks.

Actually there is evidence techniques created in Russia were used to hack the DNC.  That doesn't prove who actually did it.  For all we know, another foreign intelligence agency or even our own CIA did this themselves using these techniques to throw off any investigation.

When you touch a file and transmit it, it leaves latent data as a watermark.    The files provided by Wikileaks had been handled by a user with a Russian Language OS. The user had added comments in Romanian but the grammar was so poor it was obviously not written by a native Romanian speaker.  

 

If the CIA did all of this work, why?

Here is a good conspiracy theory:  

Trump has manipulated the House Hearing process to create a noisy screen for the Gorsuch hearings and Golf Gate ( was it a few balls or 27 holes @ MarALago on Saturday?)  The CIA and FBI have concocted this whole thing to help Trump.

The point is who cares.  Did the Russians hack the election?  Did any of the Wikileaks information change anyone's vote?  Was any of the Wikileaks information false?  It seems to me if the DNC had better security and didn't fall for corny phishing scam, we wouldn't even be talking about this now and Trump most likely still would have won.

It is strange you Americans seem to put more trust in your traditional enemies than you do your fellow countryman.  This at a time when Xenophobia seems to be off the hook.

Um, we should care if the Russians had any hand in affecting what is supposed to be a free and fair democratic process. This is about process, not results. I mean, everyone knows I was a fully-paid up Hillbot relishing my daily SorosCheck, but I live in the real world and know that we can't unring the bell and make Her Imperial Highness president. What I am concerned about it is if this happened, how it happened, how it was allowed to happen, and what we can learn from this. 

 

If you are not worried about foreign powers -- even those aligned with us, unlike Russia -- meddling in our elections, I have no response.
