I am confused about the status on my case... When I check on the NVC website it says in transit and in smaller words " your interview date was provided to you by the national visa center" I thought that once the case reaches the embassy I can schedule an interview date? If thats not the case then where do I find out when the interview date is?

They've probably mailed it to you. Some embassies allow you to schedule the interview yourself, while others assign you an interview day and time and you have the option to reschedule (but generally it's considered a bad idea to try to change it - who knows how long you'll have to wait).

There's also probably a phone number you can call and they should be able to tell you.

If you are K-1 applicant then you have to schedule your interview, after your status changes to "READY" You can start to fill out DS-160 (ceac.state.gov) and go to ustraveldocs.com to set up your account and pay interview fee, then you can schedule your interview yourself.
