Hi guys, me and finance got married this past Monday :) I want to know how long do we have to adjust his status? I don't have the money right at this moment, so I want to see how long we have until we run into problems.

Congratulations on your marriage!

You're not technically required to file for AOS, but without filing for one, your husband would be without legal status; his K1 visa expired after entering the country. He can't go to work either as AOS is required for EAD. I've heard of some couples delaying the AOS for a significant period of time (years), but to be on the safe side, work on the AOS so that your husband is with legal status.

Thank you so much!! I am a bit relieved now. I am for sure going to do it within the 90 days because he needs to work.

Yes, while his K-1 does expire when he enters the country, the 90 days on the I-94 are the important part.

Just make sure to lay low if his I-94 expires. He will be out of status and if anything happens he will be treated as any other person out of status. This is why it's usually recommended to do it ASAP.
