Hi so hopefully someone can help me. Me and my wife who came here on a k1 visa got married within the 90 days as instructed and recently filed for AOS, and EAD. We also went to the local social security office to get her a number and the process took so long that they said he visa is expired..what steps can be taken to correct that? Do i have to wait for the AOS to go through or can i simply contact them with my marriage certificate to get it extended? Please help

Thanks

The K1 visa is only a one time use and expires the moment she passes through POE.

As long as you have married in the 90 days she will be fine. Proceed with AOS.

I had a same problem when I started with AOS a few years ago. I had to wait until I received the EAD for the SSA staff  to allow me to get a SSN and even with that it took me a while because I had to apply for a SSn twice due to some technical internal problem at that office in particular. With EAD, passport and marriage cert I was able to get my SSN.
