K1 - Adjusted status timescale

I am reading online (probably too much as trying to estimate when I might hear something for my I485 is like asking 'how long is a piece of string?') and have seen that adjusting status from a K1 typically takes a year?!

Is there any truth in this? I filed in November and it seems that several of the people who came in on tourist visas have already been scheduled for interview or had an interview waiver (from those who also sent off in November). Is there *any* method or order that AOS packets are processed in, or is it all completely random? Just asking so I can stop being so obsessive with checking my email, online and the mailbox everyday if it is out of the question I will be hearing anything anytime soon.

I have had my Biometrics (in December), and the last update on my I485 online is from a Name Change request I submitted and they changed for me. I had to make an InfoPass appointment and go to San Antonio for them to correct my name on their system (they had it as my maiden name when I went for my Biometrics), and that's the last I have heard for that. As far as I can tell my case hasn't been transferred to San Antonio yet?

Any wisdom appreciated.

Someone said they had talked to tier 2 at USCIS and they were told that NBC is working on August 2016 filers right now. Many K-1 cases never leave the NBC, they never get to a local field office.

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

Our timeline is similar to yours.  We filed in November and have received EAD/AP combo card.  We aren't really that stressed about the greencard.  Would it be nice..yes, but he can work now and has his driver's license.  It was the using his passport for ID that made him uneasy as it made it obvious he is an immigrant.  He can travel if needed.  So we are taking a break from stressing about processing times for the first time in 2 1/2 years.  If feels great.

This is incorrect as not all cases are transfered to the local service center. It's only sent there if you are scheduled for an interview, otherwise the greencard is processed at the NBC

That's very true. I'm prone to worrying about absolutely everything imaginable and then some, I still don't feel settled here while my fate dangles in the hands of USCIS, they are SO SLOW. But thank you for the encouraging words, and very good points. Good luck!

I know, same here. I've been working on that...easier said than done though.  I know how you feel.  We are supposed to go on a cruise in November.  He said he's not going if he doesn't have his greencard.  He's worried about all this trump immigration mess.  I think  it will be fine.

Hopefully, we will all hear something by summer.
