Hi guys

So, I called USCIS yesterday needing help regarding my case that's held for review. After calling them three times with the agents not able to transfer me because the officers were too busy, I was told to try again this morning.

I called them at 8am on the dot. They put me through a machine that took my details and promised to call back in 180 minutes (3hrs). Which they did. The guy I talked to asked me to confirm my name, DOB, mom's name, address, the works. Fine! He asked how he can help me. I told him I wanted to know if there's a way I can send them the Stuff the interviewer he had told me they needed from me. I have it now but have yet to receive the RFE they said they would send me. The guy told me he can't open my case and that I would have to put my query in writing and mail it to Vermont service Center. He gave me the address. I then asked if he thought I should wait for the RFE or send the letter, to which he told me ,"Again! I can't open your case therefore I am not able to help you, thanks for calling USCIS, goodbye." Beep! He hung up!

Is this normal? Have you had to send a letter just to ask a question from Immigrations? I also don't understand why he 'can't open' my case.

Hello again! Im not sure why I am the only one who has been answering your threads...I mean sometimes that happens. No one else has anything to add so they dont. But rest assured that if I say something inaccurate- someone will correct it! lol.

Anyway, why did you try to call? That was kind of silly. You had an interview and are waiting on the Officer who did the interview to generate a RFE about the medical and potentially other evidence. So the case file is physically located at the local office. Even further the case is actually in possession of said Officer, so no one even in the local office will be able to access it besides that Officer.

You called the general help number and a tier 2 supervisor contacted you back. But like he said, hes got no way of doing anything about it. He can not see what the Officer is doing or is not doing and will not contact the Officer about it. Your best bet is to go to the local office on the infopass like I suggested before. IF they are unhelpful you can go to your local congresspersons office for assistance.

Every congressperson has an employee called the Immigration Liaison. You would sign forms giving them permission to inquire on your behalf. They contact their contact at USCIS and can help resolve issues for people. They basically play middleman. While they have no authority over USCIS- they do get results. USCIS can string people along but they are respectful to the congresspeople and dont do that to them.

So try the infopass, like I said someone in that office may be willing to speak to the Officer you interviewed with and get him to generate the RFE and give it to you right then or there or nudge him to get it done that day/the next and mailed out. If you get no where you can try your congressperson. Use google to find who is your rep. You can go to the senator or house representative. Doesnt matter what party affiliation they have. But they can help you get the RFE if you are still waiting.

I'm glad you're the one answering my posts. You give good advice and have a wealth of information.

lol. I feel ya about the corrections.

At first, I wasn't able to make an infopass appointment. The site kept telling me there were mo available appointments in my area for the next couple of weeks. That's when I called joping they would be ablr to make the appointment for me from their end. In the process of my calling them so many times,  I managed to male the appointment. By then, I had heard that they were going to try and patch me through to an officer so I wanted to see what would transpire from that.

All the guy told me was that he couldn't open my case and pretty much hung up on me. He never explained.  Hopefully,  the Rfe will arrive before the infopass. Or that they will help me at infopass appointment.

Thanks for educating me about congress. I didn't know what people meant when they mentioned them. Now I do.

U rock! Thanks for all your help! @Damara
