Greetings everyone!

Our visa application has officially made it to the Madagascar Embassy! Now we are in the process of getting all of her paperwork ready.

I have a question about the police record required for the interview. My fiancée lived in the United States for 18 months from 2014 to 2015. The website states she needs a record from anywhere she has lived for over a year. How do we go about getting a police record for her from here?

Many thanks,

Austin Bergera

No need to get USA police record, they will do that themselves.

I lived in America for a year from 2009 - 2010, they have access to your records in the US. Your fiancee needs a Madagascar police record + any other country other than USA.

Weird, cause she just emailed them asking:

"I have lived in the United States for 18 months as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, do I need to have a police certificate from the United States?"

and they replied:

"Yes indeed, you need to provide a police certificate to every place you have been for if it exceeds 12 months.

Police certificate (from your country of birth and/or country of residence if you resided here for at least six months; and every country in which you resided for more than one year after the age of 16)"

I'd really prefer not to go through that hassle though. Any thoughts?

There is no other way around. Since she had visa before the consular officer will know that she has lived in U.S.  Why don't you call the local police station and ask them how to proceed?  It might be very easy by just presenting your fiancee's letter of request and you can get it for her, after paying small fees.
