I'm really not sure. I know a lot of VJ members in the past have posted the South Vietnam Flag in their signature, and some were even from Saigon in the early 70s. Probably better answered by them.

I was shocked when I saw that flag under my name. I was trying desperately to find a way to remove it. This is not even funny. And yes, please no political comments here. I know there are two streams of idea about this flag and I have heard it all. We are here to support one another for another matter, not the flag. So, get rid of the flag and move on.

Select 'Vietnam (no flag)' as your country. This will fix the flag (remove it) but you will not be able to find other members from Vietnam by clicking on your country name and you will also not be able to autolink to the Vietname Portal Page. Those are the limitations right now. It is somewhat of a technical difficulty to implement this any otherway that is more elegant but it does fix your immediate request :).

I don't understand the flag is a problem here and anywhere. Wherever you go or live you are still Vietnamese (not about citizen) and in your body it's Vietnamese blood. Is the flag can change it?

I was shocked when saw it the first time. Thought someone hacked and changed it. And I'm agree with Kevin & Loan with that opinion.

You all should be concerned about which flag will get your wife her Visa to come to the US. Last time I checked, the US States Dept does not recognize the other flag. Official business and governmental matter all go under the Yellow Star flag, not the Tri-sticks one.

Here is my personal take, I grew up with the communist flag, that's the fact for most of the children of Uncle Ho. That's the flag which representing us, the Vietnam which we know. I may heard many things about the previous government, and the tri-sticks flag, but I don't feel like having the old flag under my name. Frankly, if it's up to me, i would have the red flag yellow star with three stripes running accross. Now that would be PERFECT and true sense of unity. My family would, maybe recognize it somedays! As for now, having the VN flag as it, that's fine and legal in my opinion. Do not confuse and teach dis-unity to your children. Whatever flag it is, we are still vietnamese at heart.

My vote: leave the flag as is.

It would be nice if you can draw up that's proposed PERFECT flag of unity. Also, remember to completely merge the stripes and the star don't put one on top the other.
