hmmm.. If they are really checking on people, to make sure they are not terrorists, why would they announce that they are coming?

That would just give the "terrorist" time to put away incriminating things, time to plan a story, etc..

I agree it's a little scary, but I think somewhat understandable.

If it's going to be, it's up to me!

I think the 'put the bong away' reference was not to the poster or the comment, but rather the fact that you would not want any Federal Agents seeing any incriminating evidence lying around...!

I do think it had something to do with Cuba...no doubt, there are certain countries that draw more attention than others, China, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Canada (just kidding)...

Exactly Tito, I just get the feeling that they're trying to snoop in peoples homes now. If they want to interview you, you could go to their office. No need for a home visit.

It's typical. My friend who recently graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree, got a visit from the FBI. He applied for the Nuclear Research program in the Navy. It was also spontaneous. They contacted everybody that he knows. His uncle, friends, high school, workplace...etc...

If you have nothing to hide, don't worry about the intrusion. However, if you do find it a hassle to you the chances are is that you may not be able to do a thing about it.

Apples and oranges. One might expect that when applying for a Nuclear Research job, but not a personal FBI visit to married folks .

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

We just purchased and moved into a new house about a month ago. Of course we filed the AR-11 change of residency form days after. Then about a week ago, my wife franticlly called me at work and said a dark suv stopped in the middle of the street and was taking pictures of our house in the middle of the day. I calmly told her not to worry that maybe it was the gas meter reader guy taking a reading with his binoculars or perhaps the mortgage insurance to have a pic for their records - I dont know but sure was strange.

IF it was homeland security - they can visit or take as many pics as they want - I couldnt care less.

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

The drama begins - again!

And now the drama ends - they took the Green card . . .
