Our case was received by NVC on January 20, 2017.  Still there.  Today is day 56.

Any ideas why?  What is the hold up?

Thanks.

Hope everyone has an awesome day.

Toby

My case was at the NVC for 11 weeks. Just got case closed on March 1st.

Scan date was 12/9/16

Supervisor review was 1/27/17

Case Closed 3/1/17

Interview 4/27/17

Keep calling them for updates. After the initial 60 days they will forward the case to a supervisor and it will be completed within 6 more weeks. The NVC is extremely backlogged at the moment.

I finally was able to get thru to NVC today.  The guy i spoke with explained the process to me.  At 8 weeks, if still not case complete, the file will be flagged as Supervisor Review.  Once in Supervisor Review status, they have 6 weeks to complete.

I wonder, do they set embassy appointments if we are still waiting on police clearances?

Thanks for your help!

My lawyer had my wife get her police certificate so they could send it to the NVC, so I am not sure about that. Once your documents get reviewed, they'll email you a checklist if anything else is needed, and if they need you to send it to the NVC or if they need you to bring it to your interview. In my case, my lawyer forgot to send my 2015 W2 along with my taxes, so we got a checklist stating my wife needed to bring my 2015 W2s to the interview, otherwise we would experience delays. They're very explicit when they send you the checklist, so just be sure to read it clearly once you get it.

Police clearance was one of the last documents the NVC wanted from me. It wont be accepted if it's too old, though I can't remember what the threshold was, sorry. My file was with them for about 16-18 weeks before I was assigned my interview date, though 6-8 of those weeks were because of the incompetent lawyer we had hired.
