For those of you who want to set up a joint checking account with your SSN-less husband/wife/fiance(e), apparently you can do it at US Bank. I've been told that they require their passport (hopefully a photocopy is okay?) and an additional form. Yay! This makes me happy because Ikobo doesn't work for sending money to Tanzania, and that was looking like the only other reasonable way to get money over there.

Same thing is true for BOA. You fill out two forms and show them two picture IDs (including passport).

You can at Citizens bank and Sovereign. Me and my husband did it with Sovereign, before I entered the country with my Visa, we did it while I was staying over for the summer last year, so it should be no problem.

My fiance and I opened a joint checking account at Key Bank ... he is the USC and I am from Canada (no SSN#)

I believe both have to be physically present to open the account.

TD Banknorth did open our joint account, but I was present and I also had a letter saying that I was not eligible for anssn, so they had me fill out another form (I think a W-8).
