Hi everyone, Im not sure if anyone can help me here but I thought I would try.  I am in the process of getting a k-1 visa (Im from Canada).  I am previously divorced and as it ended rather amicably, I never ended up going back to my maiden name, since I didn't really care if I kept my married name. I already have a SSN from when I worked for the summer as a camp counselor 9 years ago while in university, but it is in my maiden name.  I know this is my number for life but I was wondering if anyone knows if I should change the name on my SSN after I enter the United states on my k-1 (to my current legal name) or if I should just wait until I get married and take my husband's name?

You can do however you want to, you can do both. In my opinion you should just wait and go there after marriage, so you don't need to deal with ss people more than needed. Just so you know, They may want to see a government issued ID with the same name you're trying to change to, so you might need to wait until you have ead in the new married name.

good luck
