Was I given wrong information at port of entry?

Yesterday I finally entered the US on my K1 visa! Customs went smooth, except for the information I was given by the officer. She told me that my fiancée and I have 30 days to get married and then until June 11 (90 days) to file for adjustment of status. I was surprised by this, as everywhere else says you have 90 days to get married. I questioned her once ("Oh, 30 days?") but didn't want to start correcting her/arguing with her. So, has the conditions of my visa changed without me knowing, or was the officer wrong? Just want some peace of mind.

Yes that was wrong info.

 

90 days from yesterday to get married and AOS does not have to be filed within this period but it is recommended that you apply before your 90 days are up.

Yes, he was mistaken. You have 90 days to marry for the K-1.

 

It is highly recommended to marry and file in this time....otherwise you would be overstaying your visa and be in the US illegally (until you file).

Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks for replying. Frustrating that some border control officers doesn't give you the right information. They should know! I wonder where she got the 30 days from.

Maybe she was new\untrained on K1s, or she simply mixed up her #of days.  Happens.

Trump may be a political person but mentioning his name doesn't make the post political. IMO Sree-yash was offering a possible reason for the OP receiving wrong information (as other posters have as well), based on smth they have heard about policy. Not politics.
