Hello, I'm a Filipino Immigrant living in the US, I want to return home to the Philippines and study/work back there but I also want to get my US Citizenship after 5 years of staying here. I'm currently living here for 2 years now. Let's say I need to go back in a couple of months and wait for another 3 years, what should I do?

You have to be physically present in the US for at least half of the 5 year period in order to qualify for citizenship. In addition, if you are absent from the US for more than 6 months at a time, you risk "abandoning" your LPR status. 

You will lose your Green Card status if you don't live in the US. That's what Permanent Resident means. So you must actually live in the US for 5 years, apply for citizenship, be approved, and then, if you want, return to the Phillipines to study or work or live or what have you.

If I applied for the US Citizenship in the coming years, and get approved, I'll be considered as Filipino-American now right? A guy who have both US and Filipino Citizenships? And I can stay in the Philippines for as long as I want? Thank you for the helpful reply!

Once you become a US citizen ( with a US Passport), you will go to Philippine Consulate and apply for a dual citizenship to be considered Filipino- American.

Try to visit Philippine Consulate website to know more about the details.
