Hi everyone - my wife and I received our conditional green card in August 2015 - so she is eligible for removing conditions in May. I am starting to get the documents ready but we are in a somewhat interesting situation.

We are currently based in California but are moving to New York to attend graduate school (we were both admitted with scholarships). As such, we are planning to quit our jobs and move to the east coast this summer. In the interim, I was planning to have any documents related to the removal of conditions sent to my parents' address (our CA lease ends in May and our NY lease would not start till August). However, a lot of the documents we plan to use for proof (lease, credit card statements, etc) would have our California address listed. So, a few questions:

Would this cause any sort of issue if I request a change of mailing address after submitting the documents with our original CA address listed?

Does anyone have experience with dealing with the removal of conditions while moving and/or quitting jobs to attend school?

Also, would there be restrictions around traveling out of the country if we submit the I-751 in May for international travel in June/July (green card does not expire until August 2017 and it seems there would be a 1-year renewal received with the NOA1?)

Thank you all so much for your help - this forum is an invaluable resource especially during these times of heightened worries around immigration issues. Our K-1 and adjustment of status process was quite smooth so hoping to have this dealt with once and for all.

I would submit the documents with the CA address and then file a change of address.  Insofar as travel, I would advise to wait until you receive the appointment for the Biometrics.       Make sure to keep this appointment.  After that, then I guess is okay to travel for a short time.  Remember this is a priority so do not risk it.

Yes, file a change of address after you apply - you will have to file another one once you have a home in NY, but best to make sure you don't miss any mail. There are no restrictions on travel that are any different than for any LPR. It might take a little while for you to get your biometrics done and you won't want to leave the country before it's done (it took several weeks to get the biometrics appointment for me and then when I finally got the appointment it was only about a week and a half away - so if you were out of the country when the appointment notification came it might be tough or expensive to get back in time.)

Good luck, and congratulations on your scholarships!
