cancelled flight and 6 months rule

Hello, everyone. My mom is a green card holder, left the states October 18th, 2016. She was to return yesterday March 13th from Ghana. Her flight got canceled due to the storm. Next available flight is March 21st which put her out of the 6 months green card travel rule. 

 

Please, will she be refused entry due to the cancellation of her ticket?

But isn't that only 5 months?

CR-1 Visa Timeline

 

USCIS

7/27/2016: I-130 mailed.

8/02/2016: NOA1.

2/17/2017: NOA2.

2/24/2017: I-130 sent to NVC.

 

NVC

3/03/2017:  I-130 received.

3/09/2017: Case # and invoice # received, AOS and IV fees paid.

3/16/2017: DS-260 submitted; AOS and IV packets sent with EP.

4/06/2017: Case complete.

 

Consulate

4/15/2017: Interview email (P4).

5/09/2017: Medical.

5/15/2017: Interview.

5/19/2017: Visa in hand.

There's no 6 months you must be back rule. Sure she might get a hassle but I doubt it when they see she was to return. They still might ask why gone so long. Long as she can explain beyond the snow storm. She still was gone a long time and she is suppose to have residence in US.

 

No one can tell you yes or no all she can do is show up. But I doubt issues unless she does this often.

 

And yes that's just 5 months 3 days. When was the last time she was gone out of US? When they suspect you are living outside of the US, that's when there's issues.

Nothing like 6 months rule. I used to stay out for over 11 months but never got into any trouble. It is only when you stay 12 months and beyond that it is deemed you've abandoned residence

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
