Hello All,

My fiancés visa was approved at the USCIS on February 16th. Today I called the NVC because someone told me to wait a few weeks before I called to request a case number. The lady over the phone advised me that our case was sent to the Embassy today, I never did the choice of agent and now I am a little confused on what comes next and what we need to do. can someone please assist us and explaining what our next steps are ? like where do we do the DS 160 ? how do we pay the visa fee ? schedule the interview and how much in advance do we schedule the medical and the biometrics ? my fiancé lives in Michoacán and I am currently here with her I am also not sure if they will allow me to attend the interview with her.

Thank you so much in advance for all of your help.

I am new and haven't got to your stage but for the DS-160, he can fill it up over here https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx  :)

The rest of the info, you can read the VJ flowchart http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow and guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide.

There might be some embassy specific information that other VJers could chime in on.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Btw, here is some rough info on the Juarez, Mexico embassy specific info http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Mexico&cty=Juarez Please refer with care as it seemed to be updated in 2013. There may or may not have been any changes to the process involving his embassy :)

This means the case already has a case # assigned to it. If you were not able to get the case # when you first called, try again. Make sure you call at around 7AM EST so as not to be put on hold for a long time until someone becomes available to attend to your query.

It varies from consulate to consulate on what the next steps will be after receiving NOA2. But you cannot move forward without getting the case # as from NOA2, you would be having a lot of instances where the case # is required. So call them back (NVC) and ask for it so you can track your case's progress.

You may also want to take a look at the link stated by KULtoATL regarding the embassy in Juarez, Mexico. As I have mentioned, it varies from Consulate to Consulate.

As an example, in the Philippines, as soon as the status becomes Ready in the website, the applicant can go ahead and pay the visa fee by going to a specific bank then scheduling the interview 4 hrs later online. In the UAE however, the applicant cannot schedule it yet even if it shows Ready in the website unless he/she receives the PACKET 3 first.

For Juarez, Mexico: The appointment for interview needs to be scheduled along with ASC/biometrics appointment by phone or on the website after you have received the PACKET 3. If you do not have any idea what Packet 3 is, it contains the instructions for scheduling the interview, which hospitals are accredited to perform the medical examination, list of requirements the beneficiary has to bring on the date of the interview and the security measures that has to be observed inside the US Embassy.

This I am not sure if you will be allowed to do that. As far as I know it is not allowed to have anyone accompanying the beneficiary during the interview. But let's wait for other answers. There could be hope. :)

Best of luck! ;)
