Nothing succeeds like failure

President Donald Trump suggested again Monday that Republicans could hurt themselves politically by trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act, saying the GOP may be better served letting it fail on its own.

Key House Republicans and the White House have pushed the American Health Care Act, a bill to replace the landmark Obama administration law, also known as Obamacare. Trump and key congressional Republicans have repeatedly promised to roll back the law and made it a priority at the start of the new administration.

The party faces a possible backlash as millions of people could lose health care under the plan. Trump on Monday echoed his earlier sentiment that letting the ACA fail on its own could prove more politically wise for Republicans.

"The Republicans, frankly, are putting themselves in a very bad position — I tell this to (Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price) all the time — by repealing Obamacare," Trump said during a White House session with people he called "victims" of Obamacare. He argued that the system would eventually implode, and said letting it do so is "certainly an option" though not one he likes.

Another broken promise made by the so-called president. He said he had a plan, and that he was going to repeal and replace Obamacare with something so much better.

But better for who, that is the question. Probably not better for those who desperately need coverage, but better for those that will profit from it.

You ask too many questions. Trump said it was going to be so much better, so much cheaper, and that he would fix Obamacare. There were never any specifics, but  you really don't need one. His words are his bond.

Hot air is apparently all most ardent Trump supporters need. There never was a better plan, a biglier greater plan, one that would make everyone so happy, so proud. Sad!

Kind of tells you something about when the government tries to get involved in control of 1/6th of the economy.  In this item, Trump is wrong, letting the ACA fail on its own which seems inevitable will not be blamed on the Democrats regardless of the history of its writing and passing, it will be blamed on the party in power when it implodes.  The Congress and Trump need to do something, and in my opinion neither, single payer, nor the proposal from Speaker Paul Ryan are the best options.  I tend to like the ideas coming out of the Senate mostly from Senator Paul.  It would be prudent to make sure any replacement is crafted carefully, or at least better than the bill the Democrats passed without reading first.

I wish they would include mortgage insurance and auto insurance in the mix with health insurance. I'm sure the American people are sick and tired of having to pay for insurance they don't want.

You have to buy auto insurance if you do not have a vehicle?

I wish car insurance worked like health insurance, and that I could buy it only if I had an accident, just like many people who only buy health insurance when they are sick.

Ummm, this is why the ACA will fail miserably.  The dreaded "pre-existing condition".

The ACA was designed to fail as it is failing, certainly where I am there is only one Insurer and that seems common for the western side of Colorado.

Pre Trump there will be areas of the US next year with no Insurer.

Too many vested interests made sure it was designed that way.

Trump: ObamaCare replacement will get 'rid of state lines' for insurance

The GOP's ObamaCare replacement plan will let people purchase health insurance across state lines, President Trump said Tuesday.

"Don't worry, getting rid of state lines, which will promote competition, will be in phase 2 & 3 of healthcare rollout. @foxandfriends," Trump wrote on Twitter.
