Hi,

I'm from Sweden and my husband from the US. We both currently live in the U.S.

We are in the middle of our filing for AoS through marriage.  Thus, I need to submit my Birth Certificate, which is non-existent.  Instead I requested a "Personbevis" (Extract from the population register) through the Swedish Tax Agency, "Skatteverket".

Is this enough evidence?

If not, what other evidence can I use?

Also, can I go to a Swedish consulate and ask them to write a statement that it does not exist?

Since this is what I found on USCIS:

"Where a record does not exist, the applicant or petitioner must submit an original written statement on government letterhead establishing this from the relevant government or other authority"     https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/SLB/HTML/SLB/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-11261/0-0-0-11630/0-0-0-11646.html

Thanks!

Yes, according to State Department's reciprocity page for Sweden, the personbevis is exactly what they're expecting to see. No other statement or explanation required.

Hi Ida,

I also sent my "Personbevis" (Extract from the population register) through the Swedish Tax Agency, "Skatteverket". I got back it wasn't enough proof and needed to be sealed, stamped and signed. My "Personbevis" have the stamp and signature but how do I send it sealed?

I would love if anyone know how I will proceed?

Hi, I'm curious to find out if you got a clarification on what to do as I just got a letter back saying I needed more proof.
