I'm also waiting for my interview since I've applied in the begging of October 2017, and Santa Ana was supposed to be my FO until I had to move to LA.

I hope this address change doesn't impact my interview scheduling negatively.

Hello Everyone,   I had my interview on Jan 28th in Chatsworth. It went very smoothly, the employee was an older lady, very nice and kind. Questions were easy, same with writing and reading.

I got a text this afternoon. My interview is scheduled. I filed my case on March 6, had my biometric done on March 28. I live in the city of LA but my case belongs to LA County office.    I’

 I'm in San Diego too. I see you filed last year, where you combined ROC and N400 or just N400?  Congrats.

6/29/18 received text notification that interview was scheduled

7/5/18 received interview letter
8/7/18 interview date

 

my PD is 9/18/17

I would like to ask if anyone already had interviews there, how early should I be there before the interview time, 1 hour or 2 hours?

Because I see people have to be there 2 hours ahead to park their cars and going through the security line for Los Angeles interview. Thank you.

The parking lot is next to the federal building. You can park and walk. I went there in the morning. The security check was only 2~3min.  I would say 30min early would be fine.

Hello! Sorry I just saw your comment. So here it is. I had my interview at the Santa Ana office. 

 

I had applied for N400 as 5yr resident qualification. 

I arrived at the federal building about 30 min before the actual interview time. After I parked, went through the security and went upstairs to the lobby. All that took 10 mins tops. When u go to the lobby, You just drop your appointment letter in the black box and wait to be called. 

 

I think i waited about 15 min pass the “appointment” time. 

 

An officer comes out calls my name and I follow her to her office. 

 

Even before I sat down, she asked me to raise my right hand to swear to tell the truth. (I forgot the exact wording but I said yes, I do). 

 

I believe she asked me the civic questions first. After I got first 6 questions right, she asked me to do a written test. All were very simple nothing out of ordinary. 

 

I had requested to change my name, so there was a extra paper for me to review and sign. Her computer had malfunctioned at this stage, she had to call another officer to come in and help her. This took about 30 min. Once this was sorted out she asked me the “have you ever” questions from the application briefly and that was it. 

 

She said I had passed the civics and English portion of the process and will be recommended for approval. She said, I’m not saying you’re approved at this time, but we are scheduling for 6/25 oath ceremony. More likely you will get sworn in then. 

 

She asks if I have any questions for her, and I said, “ I brought 2 passport photos, don’t you need them? “ She said, “oh yes, you changed your name. I almost forgot to ask for these” 

 

Once she collected my pictures, we walked out to the hall way where she made copies of my passport and green card and said bye. 

 

Maybe be a couple of days later, I got an update on my account saying they scheduled my oath ceremony for 6/21 in Anaheim. It was a pleasant surprise to get an earlier oath date than what the officer mentioned and I didn’t have to drive to LA at the wee hours in the morning. 

 

All in all, the whole process was pretty straight forward and simple for me. It took just about 6 months from the online application to the oath ceremony.

thanks for sharing your interview experience.

Quick questions regarding name changing, I also request to change name but my interview letter did not require me to bring 2 passport photos to interview date at all.

I read that name change request will delay Oath schedule from 1 to 3 months, but yours was not the case, do you know why?
