Not very much evidence needed?

I'm used to front loading tons of supporting documents of a bonafide marriage but it seems like the N400 doesn't really need that? (filing under 3 year rule)  I'll send a certified copy of marriage certificate, joint taxes from 2013 to 2016, three apartment leases, some joint bank statements and joint credit card statements.  Since I'm so used to putting in hundreds of pages of evidences, it feels wrong to only send a few documents along.

the rest of the proof is taken to the interview

 

you will need proof of bona fide marriage for 2 years, so get ready to take rest of proof to the interview, car insurance, health insurance, other proof of comingling of finances, some photos, credit cards, anything that you can think of that will prove bona fide marriage

Package for the 5 yrs application in order of attachment ( as I did it, no rule around it)

- Cover letter , listing what I attached, helps the agent see if anything was lost in the process, as your paperwork gets transferred around;

- E-notification form G-1145 to receive text messages / emails on status changes

- Check or other form of payment for $725 - naturalization & biometrics - always check the current fee on uscis.gov - Put A# on it.

- Form N-400, SIGNED and DATED

- Proof all earlier marriages ended - if applicable - Divorce Decree photocopy - I certified mine but on the website it says they accept just plain copies as well.

- Current marriage certificate if currently married- copy - they don't require it for the 5yr rule, but they require it for the interview so I thought it will stay with the file anyway.

Tip : Write A# on every page you submit, including any copies of other documents.

Tip: Make sure you check your passport for any missed stamps you may have forgotten about. they will go through the passports to confirm travel;

Tip : Make sure to fill all blank spaces you do not intend to fill with N/A - documents get scanned and "read" by computer, if left blank it may misread or error out, in which case agent will have to manually enter data, they will not be happy. Also do not use white out - scanners will read through it and error out as well.

Tip: No staples. You can use a paperclip to hold documents together.

 

And this is it for the 5yr rule. Keep it clean and simple - the agents are humans too and they see paper all day - I would think they appreciate a clean straight forward, organized application. and the easier you make their job, the better.

Also , to answer your question, no, you only need to be able to show eligibility based on 5 yr residency.
