Hi,

I received a notice in the mail today that my I-693 form was incomplete (not signed by physician). It states that I will receive an RFE in the mail with instructions on how to submit the completed document.

I was under the impression that as a K1 visa holder, the I-693 form was not required to be signed since I had a medical exam already within the last year, prior to getting my visa.

So when I submitted my I-485, I included an I-693 with my information along with a copy of my vaccine records... I didn't have it signed by the physician.

Did I do that wrong? Am I supposed to write a letter explaining why I am exempt from needing a signed I-693?

You should've just sent a copy of your ds3025 if it was marked as complete. If it wasn't marked as complete, you had to visit a civil surgeon, get shots needed and have them transcribe those to the i693.

Sending a i693 without going to the civil surgeon was a mistake. Not sure if now they'll want one though.

Id respond with just the copy of the ds3025 and include the part of the adjusicators manual where it says k1 applicants for aos don't need to send a new medical

I don't know if it was marked complete or not... I was just given it and told to submit it when I got to the US. I assume it was complete or I would not have been granted my visa?

Well I'll just send a letter (when the RFE comes) indicating that I included the i693 by mistake! And also quote the adjudicators manual as you have suggested.

Hopefully this isn't a major roadblock... I don't mind if the GC takes longer to arrive, I just want my damn work document more than anything!

You didn't save a copy of your DS-3025? Actually the vaccinations aren't technically required to be complete for the K1-visa. This requirement comes at AOS.

Can you find out from your out-of-country doctor if it was marked complete or not? Get them to email you a copy? SInce IF it wasn't marked complete, you'll need them transcribed and you will risk a denial for not responding correctly to the RFE.

Looking through my paperwork, I made a mistake, and didn't photocopy the vaccine document (DS-3025?) before I sent it in with my AoS petition. That's the one item I accidentally sent in original, and without copying first. A major oversight on my part, I have been extremely diligent and can't imagine what I was thinking at the time.

I am going to get in touch with the doctors office this week and see if they can send me another copy and try to figure out what's going on.

To add to the confusion, I still haven't received a follow up notice with the RFE.

The letter they sent me just said not to send anything yet, and wait until I receive another notice from them which will then tell me specifically what they need.

Well they never sent me anything else. And my status online doesn't even say RFE, it still says the application has been received and is in progress.

I hope they are not waiting on me to send them something.

I will submit an inquiry into my case.

I think they just haven't continued your processing as of yet, but yea I'd inquire too in any case :) . Normally if the i-693 is incomplete you'd have to submit another, but not until time for interview or if no interview then you would be asked to submit by mail. It's possible they just check if the form was complete and saw that it was not at which point you got that letter sent as per policy. When they continue processing your file further, they might indeed notice that you don't need one as your K1 medical was complete and just go on with your processing without requesting it.

I hope you are right. In any case, the medical office will be sending me a copy of my DS-3025 and I have opened a request with USCIS stating that I am missing an RFE.

Hopefully I hear something soon. Otherwise, my Work authorization card/AP came yesterday so at least I can finally work.

FOSSLGRL I included my DS3025 from my medical completed just a few months prior (for the K1 process) and they sent an RFE regarding needing a I-693.  The RFE wording was so unclear and I read conflicting reports of how to submit an I-693 if you have a valid medical exam record less than a year old.  In the end, rather than just resend the DS3025 (which is supposed to be acceptable), I ended up paying $300 for a new medical exam here in Houston and got the doctor to do the I693 and seal it in an envelope.  We figured it was best to spend 300 and get thru this process faster than risk denial and have to repay over 1000 to apply again.  I realized that its really just sheer luck that some officers accept the DS3025, the unlucky ones like myself end up receiving an RFE for a valid document already submitted.  Smh.

Well, If you have a completed DS3025 and it is less than 1 year old, send that one and include your vac record. Otherwise, I will suggest you fill out the i-693 form and submit. Personally, I would advice, if you have the money to spare, just do the I-693 and be done. That way, you won't have to worry about RFE
