We are still fairly new to all of ourselves, but I'll try to help you along a bit. Once the NOA2 is sent, it means they've sent your packet to the embassy/consulate.  After they look it over at NVC, they will then ship it off to the embassy/consulate that is handling your petition.  I would give it about 3 weeks before checking on it, if you haven't received the NVC notice yet.

You can call NVC directly to check on status, but be sure to have either your USCIS receipt # or your NVC invoice#, and your beneficiaries date of birth.

The phone number is: (603) 334-0700

We just found out our petition was sent to the Rio embassy, and I've not received any NVC notices at all as of yet. (I called and received the info.)

Then next step is that the beneficiary of your petition will receive a packet in the mail.  It will tell them what documents are needed, where to get the medical exam done, and tell them to schedule the interview appointment.

Some suggestions I've read on here and other sites that help to expedite things include:

> Getting the police records as soon as you schedule your appointment, to give time for them to arrive

> Make sure you bring all the necessary documents to the medical exam: immunization records, passsport, Ten (10) 3x4 recent photos and the interview letter with the case#

> Keep in mind that the medical exam is not just viewed for the interview - it cannot be more than 6 month prior than re-entry to the US.

> Many of the documents need to be originals, or certified to be considered original.  Review the list to see what you have and what you need to work on.

And the last one that Dani and I are stuck on:

> Complete the Affidavit of Support and get the certified original to your beneficiary ASAP. (We didn't know this an are a little nervous because mailing something to Brazil takes a veryyyy long time.

If anyone sees I'm off on some facts, please chime in - as I said, we are new and only becoming knowledgeable as we complete the steps ourselves.

Good Luck!
