Good evening, I have a question to pose;

i am compiling the documents and information to send to my fiancé in preparation of her embassy interview in Bangkok for a K1 visa.

I am enclosing approx 100 photos with the date they were taken and specific location where we were.

In reference to the photos we had a Thai Buddhist "wedding". This is not a legal wedding in Thailand or the United States. No marriage license or its equivalent.  It is ceremonial.  But for her and her family this is accepted as such. Nothing was registered with the Thai government.

Knowing the CO's are familiar with the culture of their postings will they understand this or will this present us as being "too married" for a K1 in their eyes?

This particular situation is brought up ad nauseum on the forums.  Best case scenario is to avoid any appearance of being married culturally or otherwise.  Since the CO's are aware that this marriage is considered valid by everyone involved, you have an uphill battle ahead of you.  For all intents and purposes you are married there now.   People have had their K-1's denied for much less, just read through others accounts.

As far as sending in 100 photos of the wedding ceremony, it's a catch 22.  On one hand you are being honest, but it will make it very difficult for you to get a K-1 approval.  IMO the safe bet at this point is just to get married legally and file for a CR-1 spousal visa.

Please explain the sentence in red. Are you saying she and her parents consider you two married?

They know we aren't legally married. And know we are going to have a legal ceremony in the states.  But they know we are committed to each other
