Bill Clinton fired 93 attorneys. Trump fired 46. This is a non issue. Every president fires attorneys.

Yes and no. Facts are so pesky. Reagan was the Godfather of replacing Attorneys General. Clinton did ask for resignation by the end of the week after individual phone calls, but with the expectation that most if not all would remain on the job until a replacement was in place. Comrade Trump is cleaning house, no curtesy calls, day of demand, no replacement in place. Trump circus in full effect.

Bharara's high-profile cases caught the eye of the lionizing New York media and made him a public figure. His pursuit of hedge funds is said to have inspired the Showtime series "Billions." His insider trading cases landed him on the cover of Time magazine in 2012 under the headline "This Man is Busting Wall Street." The New Yorker dubbed him "the Showman." He has often been talked about as a possible attorney general in a Democratic administration.
Bharara explained his prosecutorial style in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2014 in San Francisco. He argued that sometimes, in big financial firms, some people try to get as close to the legal line as they could.
"When people try to get as close to the line as possible without going over, some people are going to miss the mark and they are going to go over the line," the Indian-born Bharara said.
"Just like firefighters have to go look when there is smoke, there may not be a fire, but if there is smoke you have got to look," he said. "Sometimes when you look to see if there is fire when there is smoke, you have to break down a door or break a window."
A former FBI agent who requested anonymity to freely discuss the matter called Bharara's firing "crazy," saying he is a "rock star" in the law enforcement community.
One of his earlier patrons, Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, whom Bharara served as chief counsel, said the White House decision to oust his friend is "interrupting ongoing cases and investigations and hindering the administration of justice."
In the Vanity Fair interview, Bharara, a graduate of Harvard and Columbia Law School, reflected on the psychology of white-collar criminals who took risks and transgressed even when, in many cases, they already had riches beyond the comprehension of most people.
"Any time you have proximity to power and money, and money in many ways gives you access to power, you are going to have people who are going to cut corners, and they are going to do bad things."
Once, Bharara went on a stunning streak and piled up 85 straight wins in corruption cases.
He was asked by PBS's Charlie Rose in 2014 about comparisons by MarketWatch between his record and baseball Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak.
Bharara, whose family are New York Yankees fans, quipped,"We did a little better than DiMaggio."
He also rejected claims that his office had cherry-picked cases to get easy convictions.
"We are as aggressive as they come, appropriately aggressive, but very aggressive because that's what I think the public wants," he said.
Wall Street may be breathing a sigh of relief Saturday night that that aggression will no longer be directed its way. But it's unlikely public life has seen the last of Bharara.

Interesting, the appointee prior to Bharara (Michael Garcia) also had a fairly impressive record, but he left when Obama took office which is pretty much customary.  Is President Trump supposed to just take office and hold over all the political appointees from the Obama Administration?  They are called political appointees for a reason.

In this alternate facts reality, facts matter very little.

According to various accounts, the assistant left Bharara a voice-mail on Thursday asking that he call Trump. Bharara reportedly decided against returning the call, citing rules about communication between U.S. attorneys and the president. He then informed Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s office, as well as Trump’s, that he would not be calling back.

On Sunday night, White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed that Trump’s call was intended to be a friendly gesture. “The president reached out to Preet Bharara on Thursday to thank him for his service and wish him good luck,” Sanders told the New York Times. She declined to say anything else about the causes or execution of Bharara’s firing.

Bharara suggested that he didn’t buy the White House’s explanation for the call, particularly given the conversation he had with Sessions’s chief-of-staff Joseph Hunt about the situation. “Mr. Hunt was direct and clear in our conversation that, given written White House contacts policy, my position as a sitting U.S. attorney, and my office’s jurisdiction, it would be improper for me to speak directly to the sitting president without knowing the subject matter,” saidBharara. “Some might find that inconsistent with what is for the first time, three days later being described as a well-wishes call.” Regardless of what, exactly, Trump planned to say to Bharara, this certainly wouldn’t be the first time this president ignored protocols or did something unusual with his phone.

Trump was not required to keep him on, but if he tells Bharara that he's keeping him on, he should keep his word. That's how it works with normal people.

Was there a transcript of their conversation?  The original story posted said nothing of that, and doing a search said it may have happened, but know one knows for sure, or what the context was of their conversation.

This is the Trump administration not the Obama administration.  All these left over Obama appointees are acting as if Obama is still president. They need to go. Trump's biggest mistake was not getting rid of them sooner

Surprising how people are still afraid of Obama, now six weeks into the Trump administration.

I thought maybe the Trump core folks would get their sea-legs once they moved in.  We are over 5 months past the election and they still fight like they are an out of control campaign.  Time to start governing.
