interview for permanent residence (merged)

Hi all, I applied for permanent residence on 18th Jan, filing both i485 and i-130 concurrently. It reached USCIS on 20th Jan, got NOA1 through text on 26th Jan, received hard copy 1st Feb and got my biometric appointment on the 17th! Suddenly I checked my status on USCIS for i485 receipt number, to my surprise it says Case Is Ready To be Scheduled for An Interview. Is it green card interview with my spouse?? I am so surprised it's so early, It's been a month I applied. Please any suggestions you guys have?

Yes, it's your aos interview. It can be up to a year from now though

Your case status may be stuck in "case is ready to scheduled for interview" for months before you get an actual interview date. It depends on how busy your local office is. But things have started off really fast for you. Hope it stays that way.

My post kind of irrelevant here. But still want to share. I filed for I-485 with I-130, that is concurrent filling on 18th Jan. To much surprise I found the process so fast. I received the interview letter for my permanent residence . It will be scheduled on 13th april. It's like within 3 Months!  I am keeping my fingers crossed. I hope everything goes well

Hi, I have few questions if you could please help me out. Did you got married here in the US and then filed your case? If yes, did you get married in court? What documents did you show as joint documents and how did you file everything? Did you also send pictures in the mail?

Yes, I married in the US and in the court. I arrange documents like I-20s, birth certificate and bought tabs and wrote the names on the tabs. I organized it very well. Joint documents I provided lease, bank account and in addition I gave 7 letters saying abt our relationship from my spouse's mom, his friends, then our common friend, my brother( because I came to meet my spouse through my brother), then my brother's spouse, and my brother's mother in law and photos over the years. For photos I first copied in the word file , describing where they are and when and then printed out them. That's it.

Hey thank you so much for your detailed response, I really appreciate it. So did you hire any lawyer in this whole process or just did everything by yourself? Also I live my wife in her parents house and they will be my joint sponsor as me my wife both are full time student right now. We do have millions of pictures togethere over this past 3 years of relationship and your idea seems really smart, didn't think about it. So do you mind if I ask you where did you file your case, I mean what office? Thnk you again.

No, I didn't hire. yes if you are both full time students then joint sponsor is required. Yes just don't give too many pictures.... so pick two or three pictures from each year, with your spouse in it and her family, or your friends and her friends if any. And send letters . Try to get more letters from people who are US citizens. And if you have more than two joint residence proof, you can send. We only have residence and joint acct. The car insurance is in my brother's name and also the cellphone  . I didn't change that. Because when I came to USA, my brother set these things up . For health insurance my spouse tried to add me but they said it has to be within open enrollment period. I live in Buffalo, NY. First it will go to Chicago, you have to mail there. Then from there it goes to National Benefit Centre. They check if everything is okay, if not then they send RFE and after that they send the file to your field office for interview. So my Filed office is Buffalo

I can't thank you enough, thank you very much for the information because I really wanted to talk with someone who was in my situation. Did you get your interview done yet? I was trying to open an account with my last name on my wife's name but they are asking for proof that her last name is changed and I don't have any! So does she need to change her last name or it's fine if she doesn't? I will have joint acc, utility bill and I will prob ask my in laws to write me a letter. Also how mich did it cost you for the medical check up? Thanks and i am sorry if I am asking too many questions. ?
