Hi all! I have some questions about the i693. Okay so I am petitioning for my wife who is AOS from F1 to GC. Now the thing is she wasn't able to get vaccinated as a child because of health conditions but now as an adult we believe that her immune system can handle them now. So the thing is she has never had any vaccines other than the meningitis vaccine to be able to enter school. So we can get her shots done for free at our doctor but I just want to make sure I got all of them correct: Tdap,MMR,Varicella, and Flu .   Is that correct or is there more? She is 21.

Also Im mainly confused about the medical exam part. I understand there are CS's who just sign with transcription, but is that because a medical exam was previously performed or? I am curious if we can get that done at our doctor also and just bring to the CS reports or something. From what I understand the medical exam is pretty expensive because of chest xrays and blood tests and such. Every case is different and I cant seem to find any information pertaining to ours , and some guidance would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Hey! Unfortunately, the civil surgeons approved by USCIS don't work through insurance. The medical exam is pretty expensive. I am in the Bay Area and paid $400 for mine. $300 for the visit & TB skin test, blood test, and urine exam. And then $100 for the tetanus and flu shot. The only thing I can think of to reduce the bill would be for your wife to get the shots through your insurance, that might be cheaper, and take the vaccine certificates to the USCIS doctor, so you would just have to pay for the visit. Chest X rays are not always needed, only if the TB skin test comes out positive.

My medical exam experience was like this:

You will go on your first visit, and the doctor will do a general check up (weight, heart, lungs, blood pressure, etc), then they will take a little blood sample off your finger to check for syphilis, a urine sample to check for gonorrhea, and they will do a tuberculosis skin test (a little poke on your forearm), and give you any vaccines that you might need. Then you need to come back 2 days later after they get your urine sample results back, and they will check your TB skin test for any reactions. If everything is clear, he will sign the papers and give you the sealed envelope, or they will send you to see another doctor if needed.
