Hi All,

I appreciate this has been asked a lot but I have two weeks until my interview and I'm trying to work out if anything could possibly go wrong!

I completed by medical in London at the start of Feb 2016. My wife and I have an interview in Manhattan in March 2017. 

 

The i-693 instructions say that (FAQ 3. C) 1) "You are not required to have another medical examination as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year of an overseas medical examination". My form i-485 was filed in May 2016, 3 months after my overseas medical exam. The vaccination form I have requests a blanket waiver. On the face of it, it seems fine. However I note that some people have got RFE's for this, is it worth getting an i-693 to avoid any hassle?

I would wait and see if they ask for it or not at the interview.

 

Someone from September filers just got approved with a medical there was over a year and according to the rules that should be fine.

July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

The immigration medical is good for 1 year only. I would get it done again and take it with me for the interview. Last thing you want is a RFE because your medical has expired.

I did my medical at this urgent care clinic (Statcare) in Astoria. They charge 129$ for the paperwork. Vaccines/other tests are additional - since you had your paperwork done last year, you should have documentation of the other tests.

I would personally wait and see at the interview. If they ask for it, fine - get it done and send it in and then you'll know everything is done. But get it done ahead of time and you could have wasted a great deal of money and time for nothing. You filed the paperwork within the appropriate amount of time, so they shouldn't be asking.

Thanks for all your help and input guys.

 

Just an update. We had our interview today, it went well. Very quick, they said the interview was waived so we had maybe a two and half minute chat and submitted joint docs/more photos of us. Very friendly staff.

 

However at the end this our officer asked if I had a medical. I said I had one in London but gave her my vaccination supplement. She then said that was the only thing she couldn't see on the file. 

 

So it looks like somewhere along the line my medical got lost! Told decision in 2-4 weeks, expecting an RFE.

Sometimes they fail in connecting the correct file to the A-number. They will probably look into this. You could contact CBP at a deferred inspection site where you POE'ed and ask them about it I assume. It happens that it's just not connected at times, but they should be able to located it either from USCIS end asking CBP or from your end.

Thanks Suss&Camm, JFK CBP hours are 9-2 Monday to Thursday, calling them tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.

 

Is it possible I could get a NOID from this?

no, if they can't locate your medical they will most likely just send a request for one by mail before approving you. :)

Just to update this thread - I was approved without an RFE for another medical. They must have found it. Thanks for all your help!
