K-1 visa is pretty much a DIY. A lawyer is mostly needed when there is a legal problem so if there is none, don't spend the large amount of money on it. As Ben already said above, read through the guides here. Brows a little through topics here related to K-1. It'll help you preparing. It's easier than you think. Good luck!

Having been through the process twice now - once (ages ago) as the beneficiary, and now as the petitioner, I agree with the above. As long as you can follow the instructions and collect all the required documents, you shouldn't need a lawyer. There is a wealth of information online, and of course visajourney.com and its members are a great resource!

Best of luck to you!

This is exactly right. I can't for the life of me work out why people use lawyers for the K1 application. You're paying someone hundreds of dollars to put the forms YOU need to fill out and sign, as well as collect the evidence, in the post. Waste of money, and more often than not, they too probably use Visa Journey to work out how to do it all :P

Correct. And a lawyer is no guarantee for a quicker process, faster approval or even to dodge a request for evidence. Ben gave all the links needed, OP can ask or google when they are stuck on a part.

Hello there!

As a Moroccan K1 beneficiary myself, I was so scared in the beginning of starting the K1 without a lawyer's help. But with the guidance and support of the very helpful members here, I ended up not needing one after all.

So unless you have a very complicated or special case, you don't need to waste your money on a lawyer, just follow the guides in the links provided above and do not hesitate to ask questions here. Everything will be alright :)

Your city says that you live in Italy - are you in Italy now? I believe that you have to be living in the US to file a K1 visa

Make sure you have a lot of proof of relationship too - K1s in Morocco don't always get approved (We've been in Administrative Processing for a long time now without a decision) so try to provide good proof and information so you don't get a denial or AP'd forever.

I would be concerned about you being in Italy illegally and also asking the US consulate if you can apply through Italy. It shows in a way that you were desperate to leave Morocco and you don't want anyone to think that you are just trying to get to the US because it's not Morocco. And furthermore your USC has to be in the US to apply for you, I believe.

OP, sorry to have to disappoint you, but unless you're in Italy in legal status, you will not be permitted to interview there.
