How can any list of Canadian music not include Rush? (Okay, I guess Americans know them too, but far more popular in Canada...)

Hmmm....lets see....Canadian musicians

My hubby isn't interested in anything that's not American. This is true for his music taste too (with the exception of British and Canadian stuff, though). Music was the thing that brought us together - I fell in love with him mainly because he used to play a bass guitar in a band :D We both love classic rock, but he's more into the musical part - how well different parts of the song are put together and all that, whereas I care about the lyrics above all. I've been a dedicated Bob Dylan fan for years! We have a long list of bands that we both love, and we have a huge collection of CD's and vynils, all of it is pretty much rock-related.

I never cared about any Russian music except for two rock bands - Aquarium and DDT. They do rock (well, they did in the 80's and the early 90's) and they have great lyrics for sure.

I am far better at playing Russian songs on guitar than I am at singing them. (Music is still written the same, but my Russian language skills still have years of improvement left.)

Newer Russian rock is much easier to play - older stuff was often played with Russian 7 string guitars with on open G tuning.

I like Teresa Teng and Twelve Girls Band. I also like traditional Chinese music/instruments. Lai, however doesn't really like traditional music. She says the only traditional thing she likes is me

My fiancee' seems to love ANY kind of music. I am an old metal head. But I personally enjoy Russian pop music! My 2 absolute favorites are Julia Savicheva and Via Gra. Julia Savicheva is almost like a Russian Avril Lavigne. Via Gra, actually from Ukraine, is like a very hot version of our modern day Diana Ross & The Supremes. But I also like other artists like Glukoza, Dima Bilan, Alla Pugacheva, Serega (he is like our Eminem). There's quite a few. All that high energy music is great for working out at the gym. I introduced a personal trainer friend of mine to Russian pop music and whenever she requests CD's to be made for her classes, the Russian pop music she said is a winner for those she is training. ;)

Other VJ members who has Russian-speaking fiancee's that want Russian music, you can contact me. I know it's not so easy to get here. But you can also buy Russian CD's from many sellers on eBay.

Thai Happy Hardcore. Lovers of electronic music know happy hardcore but Thailand puts a fun spin on it.

Not quite sure what your talking about, but I think it might be the common Thai remix style? I'm afraid I can't stomach much of that - its kind of like Mor Lam on speed. I am a big fan of No Ra music from Southern Thailand, though - - anyone who knows John Coltrane somehow there is a strong similarity. (I was playing The Africa Brass album one day, and thought maybe my wife didn't like it, so I asked if she wanted to ehar something different - a little more 'poppy' or something. She said she was really enjoying it - it reminded her of music from home. I never understood that until about 2 months before i left when I heard No Ra style @ a temple fair! She had to drag me away! :P

I also like a bit of the Thai rock scene, like Big @ss (not noprmally spelled wth an @! ). Loso's pretty good, too. Still can't get into the Muay Thai music, though. Someone once told me that you know you've been in Thailand too long when you start tapping your foot to that!
