I'm always looking for new music that I haven't heard before, especially from different countries. I imagine other people are the same!

Tell us what artists and songs you love from your SO's country!

I'm from Canada and most of Canada love our Blue Rodeo.

Not a lot of USC's seem to have heard of them.

Only in Canada you say? Pity.

Well English music and American music can be very similar.

But the band fron England that brought the two od us together is Porcupine Tree.

We love this band!

Also Blackfield. They are from England and Isreal.

Some of our favorite music from Panama is Jimmy Bad Boy and Match and Daddy, it's kind of a spanish dance reggae, but more musical than the Puerto Rican reggaton. Ya'll would probably like it :) Also Rabanes and Os Almirantes are 2 rock/reggae groups that are very good.

My wife likes Russian pop music that sounds like the pop music here, only it's in Russian. Think Brittany Spears or Christina Aguilera, a little bit of some Justin Timberlake, then remix that with some Russian language and a little bit more of a dance beat to it. She especially likes Dima Bilan, who I think is a poor-man's Enrique Iglesias (from Russia) but I like the songs though, they're good enough, I guess. We jam to his cd quite often.

A buddy of mine gave me a cd from a group called Naive, and they're a Ramones-like punk band that's been big in Russia for like 25 years. That's amazing considering the USSR was pretty repressive on things like punk music. I also like the group Via Gra and ... although not because of their singing ability. That's part of it, but they're "talented" in the over-all entertainment category, the same way Mariah Carey or Jennifer Lopez is. I'm not going to watch they're videos because I like that song... but I'm going to watch the videos! Go to Youtube and search for Dima Bilan or Via Gra to see the videos.

We met in Korea, and each of us has carried on the Korean music tradition as well. There's some awesome pop (called K-Pop!), dance/techno, even rap and hip-hop coming out of the ROK in the last couple of years. Some of my favorites are D.J. DOC, MC Mong, Cho PD, Lee Jung Hyun (with our witout Finkl), Lee Soo Young, Baek Ji Young, Fly to the Sky, Baby Vox, Koyotae, and so many others. And you wanna talk about hot chicks in videos?????? Almost every Korean video features some smokin-hot ladies. There's a group called Geobuki (Turtles) that has two hot chicks and a chubby dude that's an awesome rapper. Now that's cool! Check out the Korean music on Youtube.

Ooohh...I had no idea that Match and Daddy were from Panama.

That song is getting LOTS of airplay....pasame la botella, voy a beber en nombre de ella.

Now I'm going to have it stuck in my head!

Many of the music played in Mexico comes from other Latin American countries, but some of the classics from Mexico are: mana, jaguares (caifanes), leo dan, los fabulosos cadillacs, control machete, molotov, el tri.

Thai Happy Hardcore. Lovers of electronic music know happy hardcore but Thailand puts a fun spin on it.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I like a lot of Brazilian music. Especially a band called Nação Zumbi and one called Cachorro Grande and also sometimes Los Hermanos. And os Mutantes. I also like some older stuff that Rey makes fun of me for liking. He makes fun of me for liking Seu Jorge/Farofa Carioca too. :) I love the band Cansei de Ser Sexy, but even though they're form Sao Paulo, I think they are most popular in the US.

Yesterday we were downloading the new hits in Brazil and they're really funny... "eu vou fazer um leilão, quem dá mais pelo meu coração..." ROFL

I absolutely love Thyagaraja Kirtans by Mr. Bala Muralikrishna and also by Mrs. M.S. Subbulakshmi from South India. It’s Carnatic music – very ancient and traditional, with a solely spiritual theme.
