Hello, havent even had my interview yet but I still wanna ask something since we will have to prepare the evidence to remove the conditions right after that. Who must be the beneficiary on the documents? Like ifyou have an IRA or whatever.. Must the non USC the beneficiary or dosent it matter who is going to be listed as beneficiary? Or the tax return. Will we need my or her(USC) ta returns to send in? Maybe a stupid question but I still would like to know it. Thank you:)

Immigrant spouse should be added to insurance, IRA ect as beneficiary, shows bona fide relationship. Tax return not needed at this point.

Hi,

In my case my husband is the US Citizen. We did the Taxes together and have some documents like life insurance (if I die he is the beneficiary) and I am included in his medical insurance as beneficiary. I think that what matters id the USCIS see that you are sharing benefits or proving that one is taking care of the other as bonafide proof.

I think is good that you are thinking on these things ahead of time, and I recommend you a lot of patience, these processes can be fast or too slow and you would like to be ready for both scenarios.

Good luck in your interview.

The other spouse should be listed as the beneficiary on your documents if you are choosing to go that route. The point is to show that you have comingled finances and joint financial lives. Something that people in a sham marriage may be reluctant to fake. So you leave your stuff to her and she leaves her stuff to you.

For removal of conditions you will need to send in your tax returns. Married filing jointly is preferred (in that case there is only one tax return for both of you). Married filing separately is also acceptable if you have a reason for filing separately (in that case you must submit both sets of tax returns).
