So I'm just wondering... I checked my case today and it said they have sent another rfe. Now this is the third one in regards to my mother in law sponsoring me. Her income on the tax form states she made a loss of around $100k last year and they asked me to send proof of her assets and we sent her county tax assessment. Do any of you know what the dollar sum of money required for her to sponsor me is? Or maybe this rfe could be unrelated?

It needs to be 3x the difference in what's missing to meet the requirement for the household size.

For example, with no income the assets would need to be 3x20,300 for a household of 2 and if one is making 15,000, the the assets need to be 3x(20,300-15,000) for the same household.

So the loss is considered a 0 and therefore the difference isn't between -100000 and 20000? So likely it needs to be 60000?

Oh wait... it's your mother in law.. so she would have to show 5 x the assets not 3.... I'm unsure about the negative income part. Perhaps someone who has gone through the same can answer you.

Thanks for the help anyway!

A county tax assessment, as in, the assessment of her home/property values for tax purposes? If so, that alone would not be sufficient to show her assets.

Yes. This is all they asked for in the previous rfe along with any mortgage info but she doesn't have one. Perhaps they are just wanting more proof of assets.

So my suspicion would be they want more proof of assets. Probably a copy of her deed showing there's no mortgage on the house. Perhaps some extra evidence assuring them of its market value.

Or, like you said, it could be something else.
