Hi everyone,

Just joined this Forum. Want to know a little about Visa processes. My fiance is a US Citizen while I live in Pakistan. I'll get married soon when my fiance will come to Pakistan for marriage ceremony.

I am a doctor by profession, currently in process of ECFMG Certification. I've to take my USMLE exams as well. I don't have USA visa yet. Can anyone please guide me how it is possible to get married as well as enter US immediately after marriage to take my exams? It seems complicated. Thanks for your help. I hope we'll have great time together.

Welcome.

You can't enter straight after the marriage. A spouse visa CR-1 takes about a year to get after you file.

And being married to a USC will deff. make you more difficult to get a visitor visa.

Might want to look into CR-1 if you're getting married in Pakistan before being petitioned to immigrate to the US to join your USC husband/wife.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

Please read the guides on this site to determine how to obtain a CR1 visa

Expect the process to take around a year, although it could take more time

What if I get B1/B2 Visa before getting married? Will my visa stay valid when I file CR-1 petition?

You already got denied twice. Why do you think a third time will help you.

Yes!!! However I want to try again because this exam is very important. Without it my ECFMG CERTIFICATION is incomplete.

You can try all the times you want to just prepare yourself for a denial.

while waiting for your spousal visa, you can prepare for working in the US by taking your boards abroad. It'll cost you a bit extra, but the advantage is that you can hit the ground running once you enter the US.

Welcome to the forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Think of Canada or the UK instead, much easier than the USA and both of you move 50% around the globe ,,,,, you will be welcomed as long as you avoid Grimsby ( Borat movie).
