I realize this could go either way, and is sort a judgment call on our part but... Just wondering what the consensus/experience is out there regarding using just the 2005 tax transcript which I submitted late last year along with the I-134.

I have already filed my 2006 income taxes, and gotten my return and while the amount would be slightly more I am still above the 125% poverty guidelines regardless of using the older tax year.

Since the tax filing deadline isn't here yet for 2006 should I feel comfortable filing the 2005 IRS transcript or is the delay of requesting a transcript for 2006 worth the wait?

I e-filed my 2006 taxes using H & R TaxCut so I could print up the records from that, and copy my W-2 but I feel a lot more comfortable submitting an official IRS transcript...

Thoughts?

If it were me - and tax day being next week (or over next week) I'd wait to get your '06 transcripts (or copies of what you sent/have) - even if you were sending the form on Monday...Especially since you have filed it and aren't extending. No hard facts on that though..just gut.

Thanks all. Kind of wishing I had sent for an IRS transcript a few weeks ago, but I suppose a delay of a week or two now is better than a potential RFE. The instructions indicate that you can either get an IRS transcript or send in a copy of your submitted tax return and W-2...

Is there a difference between "telefile" tax filings and "e-filing" which is what I did??? The form instructions clearly indicate "telefile" records are not acceptable but there is no mention of "e-file" records...

H & R Block's TaxCut prints out a copy of the electronically filed return, and information confirming that the IRS had accepted the return... This appears to me to show conclusive proof of having filed. Has anyone else out there submitted this as tax documentation for the I-864 form?
