I got one traffic ticket in 2014 (red light camera), and I am concerned it may affect my citizenship application. Should I be concerned?

05/16/14 Text notice of interview scheduled for June 23rd, 2014

06/23/14 Interview day. Approved on the spot.

06/27/14 E-mail/Text for Card Production

06/27/14 E-mail/Text with USPS tracking number

06/28/14 Received welcome letter in the mail

07/01/14 Green card in hand!

there is a provision that you only need to include traffic tickets if the fine was over $500.

that is not how the provision works.

 

you mention any civil citations as well. a red light violation is a civil citation - you mention it.

 

you only include documentation for citations involving substance abuse or over $500 which the red light probably isnt.

 

just put it on your application, it doesnt affect anything. i had 4 citations listed (speeding and red lights) and my app went through without issue.

06/2014 - I-751 package filing joint with spouse sent

5 days to extension,37 days to biometrics, 172 days to CSC transfer, 247 days to Green Card

04/2015 - Eligible for Citizenship

09/2015 - N-400 package filing on basis of USC spouse sent

29 days to biometrics, 105 days to interview, 147 days to oath and US citizenship

~ 9 years and 6 months from first entry to US citizenship
