Social security hasnt arrived

Hello everyone 

 

I dont know what to do , I applied for social security exactly a month ago and it hasnt arrived yet. Im desperate because I need to work and can't since I dont have a social security number. I have been to the social security office twice and all they gave me another paper and told me to wait for other 2 weeks but after 1 month it hasnt arrived . Please , can anybody tell me if there is something I can do because i really dont know .  Im legal in the country and have a green card . Thanks in advance .

Was there an issue when you applied that required manual verification?  

 

If so, it might be more of a wait.  Mine needed to be manually verified by DHS and it took 8 weeks.

Here is a link that provides some clarity into the process of verification. Go to the yellow tab pages that describe the process.

Mine also needed manual verification through mail and needed 8 weeks. Double check your i-94 against the SSN application details. If all is good there, there's not much to do but wait.

I applied for social security 8 weeks ago. They said my name is too long and had to be manually verified, but homeland security hasn't verified it yet. How long do you think its gonna take. Please help.
first name-13 characters(including space)

Last name-22 characters(including space)

Paper verification seems to take 7-10 weeks. I'd sit tight just a bit more. 

As for the name, the first name can be 16 characters, so it's your last name that's causing problems, not that it matters :)
