What type of EAD do I need to work?

I have received an email notification that I will receive my EAD, but not the letter by mail yet...

Can I start working without the actual card in my hands?

You need to be able to show the actual card to any employer who wants to hire you....

Wrong I'm afraid Niagaenola. You only need to have an approved EAD to work, i.e. as soon as you get that email saying your EAD has been approved, you can work.

You are required to show the actual card within 90 days of signing the I-9, but as long as your EAD has been approved, you can start work.

It depends on how the employer interprets his employment-authorization verification responsibilities.

I-9 and the USCIS handbook for employers say that if a person is employment authorized but does not have the necessary employment authorization document, they can be hired and the new employee has to show that they've applied for the document within 3 days and show the document itself within 90 days.

If your potential employer will accept the e-mail as sufficient evidence that you are now employment authorized, then it can put you to work with the expectation that you will soon have the card.

No I am not wrong I did not say you had to show the card at the interview or the day you start work... all I said was you need to show the actual card to an employer...
