Thank you for taking time to help me.

I have lived in the US for 10 years on a F1 visa and kept my I 20 until late February 2017.

I recently married a USC (02/01/2017) and am assembling an AOS package.

My questions:

1) is it safe for me to not extend my I 20 while I await the processing of my AOS package?

2) if it's not safe, for how long should I extend my I 20 to be careful and safe?

Thanks!  Cheers

You don't need to extend your I20 since you are filling for AOS. However, it will still be an advantage if you maintain your status. But in practice, it's not an issue.
