Hello everybody. I have read lot of questions asked on Visa Journey, but I could not seem to find anyone who is in the same or similar situation I am in, and I just needed to clarify what's the best option for me and my husband.

I am an F-1 student and my I-94 will expire on April 1, 2017. My husband and I are currently filing for AOS, and we have most of the forms necessary ready, except I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record.

Due to an unforeseeable reason, I won't be able to have my I-693 done until April.

I understand that as long as I am married to a U.S. citizen, I can file for AOS even after my visa is expired, but it is strongly recommended to maintain a valid visa status until my application is accepted by USCIS.

My question is, should I send my application with all the required documents and forms except I-693, and submit it when we receive an RFE, or wait until we have all the forms ready, including I-693?

I read that USCIS no longer requires I-693 to be filed together with I-485, but the instruction of the form is rather vague (to me, at least), and also read that some applications were denied because of the missing I-693, so I wanted to know what you think the safest option for us will be.

Thank you very much!

Hi I sent my application I 130/ I 485 without my i693. I got a letter stating that if they need it they will send a RFE( if interview is waived) or bring it at my interview for AOS.

Go ahead and send in your application and then look for a civil surgeon after getting your noa2 because the medical is valid for 1 yr and it is 6 months to 1 yr wait for some for the AOS approval.

You can check the uscis website for the i693 instructions. I'd go ahead and send your packet as it is, seeing that you can take the i693 to the interview with you.

good luck

Thank you for your comment, it is very helpful to determine what to do!

Thank you for your comment. That is true, the medical record might expire while it is on the process...thank you, your opinion was very helpful!
