Going through DR should be no problem from my experience and I went through it while 32/33 weeks pregnant at interview. Your fiancé just needs to make every effort to be there!

@Scienceteacher15 thankyou. Is it necessary for him to be there? He has a 7 year old so it can be difficult to arrange trips. How much notice do you get of when the interview will be?

@BelzMark I scheduled the interview myself in advance time to make it convenient for me (my Spring Break) and we also scheduled the VAC appointment the day before interview so I could be there to ensure it went smooth. The scheduling is an online system https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx (where to go for form to fill out once approved NOA2) DS form is done and $160 or maybe $260 (can't remember exactly how much) is paid and a receipt is needed     http://www.ustraveldocs.com/do (scheduling)   I tracked every step of my case and watched it like a hawk. Calling once I got NOA2 etc. Go to this website. https://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/mobile/iv-faq-k1-e.html Read everything and do required med exam and vaccines at least 2-3 weeks prior to interview. Gather all forms beforehand. Read the K1 guide on this forum. If you have any other questions let me know. DR is easy if you have it together and he needs to be there! I'm trying to type fast so hope you are not confused!

@Scienceteacher15 How did you get the forms from the Dominican consulate? The postage here is not very good. So I don't know whether to get him to put my home address (in Bonao) on the !-129f form.

@Belzmark do not mail anything between you and your fiancé. DR does not have good postal service like US. You gather all forms (police, birth certificate, passport pages, etc.)  and scan them electronically to fiancé and take them to appointments! Medical, VAC, and interview! You can use your address nothing will be sent to you for DR. Everything is online or in person on your end.

So for the address part on the form i just fill it out as my own address and it doesn't matter? Thank you so much. That helps a lot as I would hate to try to get something sent from Santo Domingo consulate to Bonao.

Took Less than 3 months

(79 days) but right now processing is super slow. At the time I filed Texas  SC was sending to California and that helped a lot.

Yes use your current and past addresses and nothing is sent. When your fiancé gets NOA2 he can call and get info regarding when sent to consulate and arrival a few days later. Then do the online DS form and you have to pay $260 or $160 to Banco Popular get a receipt number and 24 hrs later then you can go online and schedule your appointments.

Wow that's quick.Congrats. Well at least it doesn't look like it will be more than 6 months then.

Look at current DR K1 timelines to get an idea of current times. I filed right before Christmas 2015 and we were approved 3/15/16 at interview after giving them a birth certificate original, medical packet you can't open, saying how we met, CO looked at additional photos, and asked my fiancé what I did for a living. Then congratulations you are approved. The visa was ready to pickup 3/21 and then we scheduled flight for 4/8 so he had time with family and friends.

A lawyer told me that I should provide some kind of proof of provisional wedding plans.Date of wedding, invitations etc. or at least a plan. Do you think this is necessary?
