This morning I got magical email update and my case is FINALLY "in line for interview" on Jan 25, 2018.:D

I revisited those 12 cases of 200 which was stuck in fingerprint stage. 10 case were changed to "in line for interview" today.

There are only 2 cases left in fingerprint stage of 200 cases now.

I guess my background check was done after 8 months.

My PD is about 3 weeks after you. So hopefully, after 3 weeks I'll get that magical email too! But since things are soooo random, I won't hold my breath.

Did you do any service requests on your case? I sent one for a "missing notification" in November, but no response. Wasn't even assigned to an officer according to my online status. I submitted another same request just last week - but its the same status, and hasn't been assigned to an officer yet. In the next month or two, I will be beyond normal processing time, then will file a request based on that, but for now, can't do that.

AOS

05/14/2014 (Day 062) Received text and e-mail notifications that I-485 status updated to "Testing and Interview"

07/25/2014 (Day 135) Went in for interview - was fairly straightforward

08/02/2014 (Day 143) Green Card in hand

ROC

I didn't do any service request. I did call to talk with a uscis officer and send a request to senator in October, but i don't think it helped. After October I waited patiently.

Hi Guys

Finally some good news from me. As posted earlier, my PD is Aug 2016 , I went for interview in Mar 2017 (passed the test) and was told my name check had to be done again. I waited and waited and finally i was scheduled for another interview in Jan 2018. The interview was a formality and the officer even apologized to me . He gave me my oath ceremony notice then and there

My lessons learned

On the local office has any info about you . You will get wrong info from the UCSIS call center and even level 2 officers. Service Request is a waste of time . Only Infopass helps

Ombudsman office helps a lot. I think its they who pushed by name check to be completed

It takes about 12 months for FBI name check to be completed if they have to do it again(due to it being low priority)

email me at panickerm@gmail.com if you need any additional help

Good luck

Manoj

How do you know if they are going to do a second Name check on you? I was interviewed last Monday given a "no decision can be made at this time" letter. The IO told me I should get a decision in three weeks and said it had something to do with a security check, and that "it happens some times"

The last two case were changed to "in line for interview" On Feb 8 and Feb 27 today. In fact all the 200 case I tracked have background check cleared. :jest:

I am still waiting for interview being scheduled. Hopefully soon.

It is going to be a one-year anniversary of my PD at the end of this month (March). My status is still in the status of "fingerprint appointment scheduled".

Many people report a movement around the anniversary. It seems some case are stuck in an administrative deadlock and they have a team at USCIS that manually goes through all old cases and they clear them if  there is nothing wrong with them.

Hey guys! This is gonna be a long one...So  I had my interview on February 15th,  my experience wasn’t all that great my interview was scheduled at 8:20 in the morning so I go there by 7:30 Checked in and just waited. They started to call people who came after me So I wait for almost 60 minutes then I go back to the check-in desk and the guy was completely rude and acted like a robot then told me your name is not on the queue And everybody in the room freaks out And form a line behind me to check their status then I wait for another 30 minutes and I get called in for the interview. The interview went smooth I answered all the questions until the officer asked me about a ticket I got almost 6 years ago which is listed on the  Application along with the court disposition letter, it was a  reckless driving ticket which I was found guilty.. my sentence was one year unsupervised probation and I had to get a class in driving school and nothing after that. She said I passed the test however a decision cannot be made today and follow instructions on the N14. Check this out—-> she asked me to bring something that says my unsupervised probation ended”” which clearly stated on the court disposition letter”” and a letter from the driving school stating I went to the class AND she said I may get the n14 letter in the mail OR get the ceremony letter AND she may check with her supervisor.. now after 3 weeks I never got that n14 letter I did go to the court they laughed at me and they said it’s a one year unsupervised probation you didn’t have to report to anyone your name is not even in The probation department and it says that on the disposition letter it automatically ends after one year unless I get in trouble which I didn’t, anyway all they could do at court is highlight the portion where it says unsupervised and one year long ended in 2012 and hand write it they also put the court seal on it and certified it and gave me a copy of the class I took. I had an info pass yesterday they said I should have received an n14 in the mail if the officer wanted more info which I didn’t.. my status still shows scheduled for interview. They told me I should hear something back within 2 to 4 months. Your thoughts?

It’s been a long time since my last post here.

Today I received an email with the response to the online inquiry that I made on October  23,2017 for Non delivery of Other Notice because since I’ve done my biometrics my status hasn’t changed and still shows Case was received

Here is the answer from USCIS

The status of this service request is:

USCIS systems indicate that on 09/06/17 you appeared at the local Application Support Center and had your biometrics taken. Processing has resumed on your application. If you need further information regarding the status of your case, please check Case Status on line at www.uscis.gov.”

I am just hoping that whoever touched my case today it will work on it and do some updates

I along with with my wife filed for naturalization in January 2018. We both did early walk-in fingerprinting and my wife's status changed 2 hours after biometrics and she has also received her interview confirmation letter in April while  my status throughout has been stuck at "We scheduled your biometrics appointment" since Jan 19 when we both had our biometrics done together. At this point I'm pretty sure that I am stuck in background check. Looks like I might have a long wait ahead of me so I need to be patient

It's too early to say that you are stuck. It is rather your wife that was extremely lucky. Some people are cleared right away, the rest of us, me including, have their background check cleared anytime between one month to a few months. My check was cleared 4.5 months after fingerprints.

Disclosing the country of origin in your profile might help other people understanding patterns in USCIS processing. :)

My online case status has been "Case was received" for the longest time. I've done my biometrics back in October 2017 and have received no status updates at all so I'm not sure what the progress on my case is at. I filed a "missing notice" inquiry but it hasn't been looked at yet.

If you are in background check, what would your online case status say?

Hi as I mentioned earlier I am in exact same situation  I’ve done my biometrics in September 6,2017 and my status still shows “ Case was received” . Keep in mind that you can even become a US citizen without status to be changed and still showing “ Case was received” . I know a person who experienced it.

Good luck and be patient

Most common status is that "your fingerprint appointment was scheduled". Once you are good to go (background check cleared) your case status will change to "in line for appointment". Please note that some field offices are so backlogged that this phase (in line) might take up to a year.

It is true that sometimes online status is not updated. There are false negatives but I haven't heard about false positives (that is, when your status says you are scheduled for appointment, and this is not true).
