There are a few theories here but I am confident there is no conspiracy going on. Back in 2008 (ish) the background check system was so backlogged it was causing a delay of 1-3 years (for most applicants). Theyve since picked up and slowed down again. It happens. You do realize the name check covers your name as spelled, your name phonetically, and any variation of your name. If something comes back - even a mention they have to review the files. Its a huge time consuming process.

Well, there is conspiracy taking place too. One of such things: https://www.nationalimmigrationproject.org/PDFs/practitioners/our_lit/impact_litigation/2017_03Jan-ACLU-CARRP-advisory.pdf

I have no idea where the Dallas office is in terms of applications.  I am already outside processing time.  I already had infopass appt and they just said they were waiting for an appointment to become available.  20 numbers after my application # show they have been approved or even issued their certificates.  Mine is still stuck here.  (No, I did not forget to blur the number, I just don't think it makes any difference).

I had my Biometrics completed on Sept 15.   In ELIS, the status was different, it said that the interview was scheduled since January, however it was never scheduled.  When i inquired about that discrepancy several times, they finally changed it to "we reviewed your biometrics" updated Oct 16.   So no movement for mine since last year.   VERY FRUSTRATING that they actually reversed the status.

Out of the blue I finally received my I-797C showing my interview is scheduled for November 6th in St. Louis.  My online case status hasn't been updated since my biometrics appointment in January and I've received no email or text updates.

Guess I better start studying for the civics test now !!

Hope you all hear something soon !!

Congratulations! There are reports here and there that the USCIS online notification system stopped reporting any progress since around 7-10th of September. I do not know if this is really true, but I got my online notification about being in-line on 09/07/2017, but I never got anything about interview, the first thing I got was a paper invitation letter.

PD: Aug 22 2016

Interview: March 2017(passed the test)

FBI name check had to be re-done(due to an earlier data entry error by USCIS) in Dec 2016

Still waiting for FBI name check to clear and its October 2017.

Anyone else in the same boat? Would appreciate if people update their status on FBI name check so we can all know the wait time

Finally, after 301 days stuck on FP status, I received a letter yesterday for an interview.  Still no update on the USCIS website.

PD was NOV 25, 2016. Local office: Baltimore. My country of birth is Pakistan.

Best of luck everyone. Hope your wait will be over soon as well.

Congratulations to those whose petitions r moving forward. As for my case ,mine is still pending expect few times of reviewed my biometrics on my profile account twice in past 2 months.

spoke to a supervisor at ombudsman and was informed that lot of petitions r stuck in background check because uscis had too many applications just before election and they are trying to figure a chage in policy.

It is both pre-election and post-election, due to executive orders. You remember that, initially, they intended to ban green card holders too. Many people got scared. The number of green card holders eligible to apply for citizenship exceeds the annual capacity of USCIS by a factor of 5-10, if I recall. Honestly I do not understand why people do not naturalize if they live here for long time. Permanent resident status is much better than a work visa, but still it has many risks.
