So, hubby went for his second biometrics this morning, and apparently they just needed 4 of his fingerprints..... hopefully this will get things moving 😳

They also took a picture again, and signature. It was "code 5" vs "code 3" from the first biometrics

There is someone in the March 2017 thread who was in exactly the same situation (second FP with code 5). He is from Italy, so it seems it was unrelated to the infamous CARRP. It appears USCIS has some issues with fingerprints recently. Someone else reported on some other thread that he was told at USCIS that they have upgraded the FP system and occasionally there are troubles (it is possible that it was the same person who reported it in the same thread, but I do not remember, look up @Nick79).

Thank you for the information!  Makes a bit of sense, though I still can't understand why mail got returned to them.... I'll have to check out the March thread   Thanks, again!

Did you get a notification for the second biometrics online/e-mail/SMS? Or it was just mail? Thank you.

We did an online service request. Online it still shows the original biometrics date. Upon logging in to his USCIS portal account, under that case it shows that the service request was assigned and completed. They sent a letter stating that they had received returned mail and that his case had been suspended because of that. Along with that letter was a new biometrics appointment letter.  They only took prints of 4 fingers together on one hand, his picture, and signature.

I just put in a service request, just the way @Happytobe did it ("notice not received"). I was told to expect a response by September 21... Well, we'll see! Probably nothing will come out of it, but it sure beats sitting around looking at other December filers who had their oaths three months ago, and feel sorry for myself!

It took an extra month for them to respond to ours from the "predicted date" they gave us.  Hopefully, you'll get some kind of useful answer! fingers crossed

My service request (Submitted July 26th) said I'd get a response by August 17th.  I'm still waiting

yeah, I think we were originally told July 9th (ish) and it took until August 12th (ish)  I've seen the responses vary so much, it's unbelievable! Hoping we all get out of the limbo so very soon!

I'm not expecting much from mine.  I am not missing a notice except one that says I've moved on in the process.  I was just hoping that someone actually looking into my case would maybe help get it unstuck.  We'll see.

we didn't think we were missing a notice either, and had the same motivation as you.... but come to find out, there was a notice we didn't receive... Why, we don't know, but... I have done some advanced searches on here to see if others have had issues like ours with the biometrics, and there were more than I thought there would be... we were expecting the  "you are within normal processing times" response, so although it's frustrating that his case was suspended and there was returned mail to USCIS, I'm thankful we made the inquiry... you never know

Interesting !!... just out of curiosity, did you try an Infopass appointment before resorting to opening a service request ?  I attended an infopass appointment in mid July and was told everything was in order and that there was nothing specific delaying it.  I then read about people opening service requests so figured it couldn't hurt.

We did not. We've had a lot happen in our lives since the beginning of the year and it was much easier to put in the online request than to schedule an infopass. If we don't hear something within the next few weeks, we'll submit another one... I hate to be a nag, but hubby's passport expires at the end of this year, and if we can save money by not renewing that one, it would be great.
