N-400 Filers who got stuck or delayed in Background / Name Check.

I had been in FP scheduled status for 6 months now. I submitted e-request "notice not received" but it didn't bring anything. I called and spoke to L2 several times. They submitted a new request. Waiting for an answer now.

So we may have a long wait as they do the checks, but we are certainly not alone! This helped us decide to stop obsessing for now and just sit back and hopefully be pleasantly surprised when something does move. 

 

 

I also just checked the eight applications around mine who were still stuck in the FP stage, and there has been no movement on any of them. Although I am beyond frustrated with the system, I try not to let it bother me too much. There is nothing I can do right now, anyway... except for wait.

So I haven't heard anything. My coworker who applied 3 weeks before already got his citizenship and I still haven't received any letter for interview.

Those who feel like stuck in the queue, don't worry things will move at the right time. It is normal to have 11+month waiting period before getting your interview. Good luck to all!

I've just discovered this thread and while I'm not sure I'm officially stuck in any name / background checks, my case online status has not updated since 01/09/2017 when I was told a notice had been mailed to me about biometrics.  I attended my biometrics appointment on 01/25 and since then, nothing !!  

 

I tried submitting a case status inquiry but as I'm not technically outside of the St. Louis field office processing window, I wasn't allowed.  Eventually I filled out an inquiry based on not receiving a notice.  While it's not exactly the case, it did enable me to get an inquiry submitted and technically I am still waiting for something saying my case is progressing !!.

 

I did attend an infopass appointment in mid June and was told that everything was still in process but that it may take a while to get to the interview scheduling stage.  There was no mention at that point of any holdups due to background or name checks.  That being said, I have found 2 other VJ users who have applied to the same field office after me and both have either been scheduled for interviews or have already passed their interview and are waiting on oath ceremony dates.

 

Maybe this case inquiry (although not 100% accurate) will help things moved along a little.

I've also submitted a case inquiry based on "notice not received" (still in FP scheduled status, 7 months after biometrics were done). 

I've received a reply approximately two months after, they said background check isn't finished.

I had submitted a erequest similar on may 17th. I have been in fip status for close 4 months now. Filed in mar2017. They assigned the request to rep on July 17th. I got a written response that they reviewed my case and there no pending rfe, bio metrics is received and processed. Case is waiting to be picked up by field office. Philly is pretty backed up. So will wait and see..

I applied more than 6 months ago and my online status still shows 'case was received'.

 

I recently found out from the hotline representative that because I served in the U.S. Military, the USCIS has recently been imposing behind doors that all military applicants (past or current) be granted a top secret security clearance in addition to regular previous checks before they process their Citizenship.

 

I don't know how true is that but it is what I have been told over the phone. I couldn't also help to notice the delay in my case as well.

 

Well, the people/organization conducting the security clearance operation are backlogged for at least 2 years now because of a data breach that happened so I will be waiting for quit a bit.

 

Who knew service could hold you back in getting your citizenship while civilian are not required any form of top secret security clearance in order to naturalize. 

 

The fun fact is that if you are married to a service member, you do NOT need a top secret security clearance whatsoever to naturalize and it could be completed in 3/4 months as you are technically considered civilians.

 

In that case, all Background Checks they do if you are a civilian are: fingerprints checks, FBI name checks, and other additional border and Interpol checks.

 

But if you are/were the service member, you now have to wait for your top secret security clearance first in addition to all the other checks that civilians go through unless you really got lucky by some miracle and they overlook at your application.

I have a March 17 case and the status is showing "Fingerprints Appointment was scheduled."

It has been more than 130 days and it is not even getting the Inline notification..

I am currently at 196 days since my biometrics appointment in St. Louis and my case status also still reports that I've been mailed a notice about my biometrics appointment.  No sign of the status changing any time soon.  I am supposed to get a response to my case status inquiry by August 17th so hope to have some kind of update from that in the next week or so.  Until then, the wait continues.

My case was last updated 247 days ago with FP appointment scheduled. I am desperately waiting for completion this process so I can move forward with my wife's approved I-130.  Unfortunately, Baltimore office is also one of those centers who are backlogged.

I'm no where near the delay some of you are facing here - so I certainly sympathize more with you all. I'm only about 2 months out from when I did my biometrics, and I haven't heard anything, so I am starting to get concerned.

 

I filed in May NYC, and yes NYC is one of the severely stressed FOs. However, the reason I am concerned is that everyone in the May thread from NYC has been put in-line for interviews (barring one who person whose ROC is still pending), many June NYC filers have moved in-line, and a July NYC filer has moved in-line as well. So not sure what the hold up with my case is , and I'm not even sure if BGC is the issue for me yet. 

 

I've never had BGC issues with my initial apps or ROC (which just completed in April) before, so I'd be surprised if anything really changed within the last few months. I do travel a lot internationally for both work and pleasure, so I did list 15 trips abroad in the last 3 years - 2-10 days max, totaled about 75 days out of the country. Again nothing that I would think would cause a problem, and it was mentioned in my ROC. The only thing I can think about is if they need to somehow verify each of those trips that is causing additional delay, but then again, I would have assumed it would have had some impact on the ROC process too.

 

For those of you waiting for so long - where there any issues with your previous apps, AOS, ROC, etc? And how did you realize that the BGC was the actual cause of the problem?

Hi I'm from NYC and I filed on June, did my FP on June 27 and still says fingerprints scheduled so I don't know what could be the problem on my case. Just hoping I don't get stuck on this stage for months

I don't know for sure that my delay is anything other than usual processing times.  The St. Louis field office is still reporting that it is working on applications received in September of 2016 and I didn't submit mine until December of 2016.  That being said, based on timelines posted on this site, I am aware of several people who are applying through the same field office who are already at or past the interview stage, yet they submitted their applications a number of months after me.  If applications are processed in order, how do some people get further into the process unless there is something slowing mine down ?
