Myself and fiance have recently started gathering what is needed for the l-129F form but I am seeing some issues further down the line that I would love some help with!

I am British, and whilst this process is being done, I will mostly likely be still in Mexico travelling on a tourist visa, am I able to do the K1 interview at a US Embassy there or will I need to fly back to London for the medical and the interview?

My second question is after the medical in London, how long does it usually take to receive an interview date? Is it worth staying in the UK whilst I wait (if its a couple of weeks or so) or should I go off on my travels again and return if its a couple of months of waiting?

Thirdly (last one I promise) After the K1 interview in London, I am under the impression they hold your passport for a period of time?

Is this correct and how long approximately until you get your passport back?

I anybody has any answers I would REALLY appreciate it, this whole process is already brain frying me!

Thanks!

The most important thing to remember is that embassies like the UK one are flexible and can work with you on setting up appointments that work with your travels. You can go ahead and get everyrthing handled, file, get your NOA2 (approval), and once things are at the embassy stage contact them to work with them on interview dates that you can prepare for. Same as the medical - I'm sure you can schedule all that to your timings. As an example, look at my K1 timeline and the time it went from getting the paperwork at the embassy and the actual interview. :)
