So I am trying to add my now wife to things like utilities, Bank Accounts etc....

They all are requiring social security numbers which we wont have until we file the various docs (EAD/I-130/I-1485.)

I am seeing that banks such as Bank of America only require an ITIN number, and my Credit Card company said they just need documentation of who she is. ITIN number may be enough with her Passport of course.

Has anyone had any experience with adding their spouse to things like this without a SSN?

Actually I went through this same thing when I tried to open a bank account.  At the time I didn't have an SSN and the IRS won't issue an ITIN solely for a bank account.

You don't need to have either for services such as a bank account and utilities.

You just have to push back a little bc the tier 1 employees don't know they can do it.

I had the bank manager open my account with the personal banking rep so she could learn.  And for utilities, I just needed to send in copies of my passport as ID.

Good luck!  :-)

This stuff does get easier - just bumpy at the start.

Cryssiekins advice is rly good. You don't need it for most of these things. I opened at BofA with only passport and my debit card from back home as second ID.

Just adding - you can also apply for a ITIN. The IRS recognizes the need an an ITIN for professional or other reasons. I sent a letter showing that teaching credentials can't be obtained without ITIN and it was approved.
