My case EB3 was USCIS approved by August 2016 ending, sent to NVC 3rd of Sept. Paid fees and filled DS260 by 1st week of October. First week of Dec, I got a checklist from NVC saying they didn't get our police clearance, my employer confirmed it was sent but NVC lost it... How true?

I submitted another one and NVC confirmed receipt in the 28th of December. 2016...to give them 6weeks which brings me down to 8th of Feb. 2017. I am yet to hear from NVC and I am freaking out because the so called police clearance expired yesterday  6th of march as per 3months validity for Nigeria police certificate.

Now,i call NVC almost everyday and they say it has been sent to  the supervisor for review having passed the 6weeks time frame,i was meant to understand that it is now 8weeks for document review starting from Feb. 2017.

I called last week twice in one day, requesting to speak with a supervisor about my case, the first person said my case hasn't been sent to the supervisor that I have to exhaust the new 8weeks time frame. She was impatient and I could tell she didn't have anything tangible to say to me so I dropped and called back a second time of which a much nicer person answered and said your case has been sent to the supervisor on the 14th of Feb. Allow up-to 6weeks for review and no, we did not start the 8weeks time frame with you since your case was received before the law changed.

Does this mean the 6weeks cycle was restarted again for me since it was sent to the supervisor ?

I called yesterday again and was told the supervisor has successfully moved it to the document review department, it's still within the 6weeks time frame, to keep an eye on my mail. Whew!!! What is document review dept. and how long will this take ?

What does this whole thing mean, I'm running out of patience, waiting is a beast. Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

For the visa purpose your police certificate is valid for one year so you are good.

As per NVC they are seriously bacKlogged so all you can do at this time is keep calling them to find out the status of your case, keep being hopefull and keep yourself preoccupied with other things to take your mind of the negativity of the delay.

Cheers!

Thank you for your response. The expiration date on the police report states 3 months validity, does this not apply?

The US Consulate in Lagos give the police report a 1 year validity . So you are okay. The same thing(3 month validity). was written in my police report as well in May last year and it was still accepted by the consulate this year.

So in essence, you are saying to take it like that to the embassy without renewing? Have called NVC today, my case is completed 2days ago but I have not received email to this effect.

Thank you again for your kind response.

If you got it just 3 months ago and you now have case complete with the same police report, then by all means you can present it at the consulate. You are EB3? I hope you are current?

Take care
