PS speaking of kitties, what do y'all think of this lil guy?

http://www.animalhumanesociety.com/animal_...mp;code=kittens

Rey is totally in love.

he better be, he married you.

and the kitty looks so sad in that pic :(

I know, he is saying 'please take me home Rey Rey'

At least I think he is... he was surrendered with 3 identical littermates but they're all adopted.

Anyone introduced a kitten to a cat (or older kitten, really) before?

did that when nessa got here - much of it depends on your assessment of the older cat. my cat (about 10 years old) didn't bother nessa's (about 1 year old) very much, and currently it seems to be the other way around - her kitty beating up on mine :P

just keep a close eye on them for a few days. i have read somewhere on vj something about putting perfume? or something on each cat so it will keep their noses occupied.

Yup. Actually you find that's a good mix. Older cat is king/queen and younger kitty is right down in pecking order. When young kitty gets too big for it's boots, older kitty will bash them over the head with a paw!

Your kitty will probably be ideal. Your present cat hasn't been on her own for too long so would probably adapt very well.

You mean Nessa is the kitten, and you're the cat? :P

Dayum wish I saw this thread before perhaps making some errors already. :( I am happy to say we adopted the kitty we are tentatively calling Ollie (Oliver). I am unhappy to say MaddieCat has already been logging some time hissing under the door to the room he's in...

It'll take her a few days to adjust...don't panic. This is totally normal when cats are introduced to each other. You should have seen my two when they were introduced to hubby's cats! It was hell on earth for a few days, now they are all fine with each other.

PS Wait, I just read the thread, and we did the cat-in-the-carrier thing, which induced hissing and then growling, though we gave Madeleine like 40 treats just for being around him... sigh. Poor lil Ollie just sat there looking curious and friendly (12 weeks old)

Luckily those guys did not have the following sort of cat in the house..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

After reading through all of these posts about how to best introduce cats to one another, I hate to admit that I basically did just throw the cats together and let them work it out. And Jenny had a lot of feline roommates and no one ever got really hurt - a few scratches here and there on both them and me! - so in the end I guess it all worked out just fine. As someone mentioned, you will likely end up with a top cat (probably the older one) and a bottom one (probably the younger). Jenny was both over the years.
